lucklucky Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 I don't know how much, but it is easy for tarmac to not resist vibrations below it.
sunday Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Well, looked it up a bit, and found that it is usual practice to spot weld manhole covers shut before having a car race passing on top of them, and it seems there were cases were an improperly welded one has been sucked up by the ground effect of a car, damaging it. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/articles/single-seaters/f1/racings-manhole-mishaps-why-las-vegas-had-plenty-of-warning/ Also, it also seems the LV manhole cover was welded, but the underlying iron broke...

rmgill Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Something tells me he's not going to get a parole no matter what the Soros DA's might try for.
rmgill Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Hmm. Just outside Birmingham. That's Shep's AO.....😉
Ivanhoe Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Apparently the "B" fell off BPS's street sign. I think I'll pass on any future I&Is in the Birmingham area...
rmgill Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 (edited) I dunno, Adam makes the Birmingham old mill seem interesting... Kinda cool that geologically speaking we have coal AND iron ore in Central Alabama. Plus limestone for flux. "Sloss Furnaces located in Birmingham Alabama is a National Historic Landmark. It was in operation from 1882-1970 making it the longest continually running blast furnace in Birmingham’s history, and once the largest manufacturer of pig iron in the world. This video is about my visit to Sloss. I was amazed and intrigued with every step there. It's an absolute industrial art paradise to see, photograph, and film. It was great to learn about the processes and materials used here to create and pour iron. " Edited January 8, 2024 by rmgill

Rick Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 To me, a man doing well without a college degree, explains well why a "higher indoctrination", er, I mean education diploma is not worth it for many, but not all people. Good responses in the comments section of this report https://www.wsj.com/us-news/education/why-americans-have-lost-faith-in-the-value-of-college-b6b635f2
Skywalkre Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Some good news for a change. Quote Ralph Yarl named to Missouri All-State Band months after being shot Ralph Yarl has received the special distinction of being selected to the 2024 Missouri All-State Band less than a year after he was shot after mistakenly going to the wrong house. https://abcnews.go.com/US/ralph-yarl-named-missouri-state-band-months-after/story?id=106232534
