Okay, if the range event is now settled on 5/6 October, make my attendance definite, barring higher powers intervening. I'll also run this by the rest of Team Banshee before Easter and might be able to recruit one or two additional numbers. This would increase the Euro group to 3-4, with appropriate transport requirements coming down from NY.

Unfortunately the rest of Team Banshee is already pre-occupied with girlfriends' birthdays, vacationing with the parents etc., so it looks like I will be just by myself.

wife and I discussed travel budget, as I already did Shot this year and she has Malaysia and we might go to Disney, it's not in the cards for me, bummer sounds like fun.

Drive!

He is in BC... a little bit of a long drive

I can't make it either. Already have a two week road trip starting in Memphis and ending in Savannah via Nashville,Chattanooga and Charleston planned for June and I can't see getting away again in October due to work commitments.

Disney or rifle class, why is that even a comparison? If you need singing and dancing you can send the wife down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Dollywood!

Jason, I hurt with you. This is the first time since '04 (Memorial Day at Ft Knox where I met Jim Martin and Tim the Tank Nut) that I've been able to take such a trip. Hopefully, you will be able to do it down the road.

Yeah, maybe later down the road.

Jason, I'd consider a road trip if you flew down for this. Pretty sure the drive from Texas to WV is through gun friendly states. Sounds like I would have to get a lighter upper for my ARs but I could put one together cheap, so no problem there.

Would be funny to see that Arisaka in action, lol. Maybe an M1 can play too.

This road trip offer sounds great and would really make the whole trip just outstanding. It would cut my cost down and greatly simplify moving the rifle around but I would have to take off more work days. I need to think about it. Don't count me in yet.

Simon,

I realize this is too far off, but any chance on doing another one of these next year? I think this year might be a stretch of JasonJ and I but next year should be solid.

Well...if this year goes OK.. organizing 2016 would not be impossible at all.

Seriously...running anything other than an AR just adds to fighting your gear most of the time. Optics are a huge boon.

Glad to see some life to the thread. I'm working the basics with my AK, so I should at least be at zero when we do the class.

22LR no go. Centerfire. If you run a pistol cal carbine, you are going to be dealing with zero issues since they have really piss poor BZO.

3-9 power is going to be mostly 3. I have done the class with 4x ACOG. E5M did it with a 3.5-10....but then again he's kinda good.

A 3-9 with a secondary reflex collimator would set you up sweet.

Hotels......Unfortunately we are hitting the area at the height of the tourist season. There is a school rate for the Holiday Inn I think. I will post more on this shortly as I get some clarity on this.

If your gun is heavy.....you will suffer. Feel free to load up all the crap you want....it will get slick fast.

Get gloves. If you shoot without gloves, your hands will suffer. You don't need crazy tacticool gloves. A pair of Mechanix ones or nomex flight gloves works great. I just usually use it for my support hand.

Don't bring new shoes to class. It will suck.

Wolf and other steel cased is OK. You just clean more. Don't bring your M855, 7P6 etc.with steel cores. They pit the targets.

Yeah, besides shooting, I'm increasing my workouts. I'm in pretty fair shape now, but it surely won't hurt to ramp up as much as I can. Even then, I expect some butt-kicking, just from the unusual movements if nothing else.

Any thoughts on an Aimpoint T-1 Micro on one of Larue's angled offset sights as a backup for an L1A1 clone?

I have a 3-9x40 on the FAL now. It's 7.62 and can shoot farther than I can easily see so I bought a longer range scope for it years ago. Its currently mounted with a Larue QD mount.

FS2000 for primary. FN L1A1 as backup.

Why don't you just run the T-1? Less is more amigo. Running a DMR set up FAL is gonna be harder work. I really suggest you borrow an AR. Really..your buds in GA should have plenty.

I know of a Sig 516 I could borrow if worse came to worse.

Stop by the gun club for some sporting clays, ARs and other new toys, and award winning barbeque right up the road from CHS.
