BansheeOne Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Well, trying to pay Pat turned into an adventure of its own. It took me two attempts, a dozen-plus e-mail and phone conversations involving two banks, and vast modifications of the original transfer order including removal of the apparently suspicious word "firearms" from the reference. On the plus side, I learned a lot about international bank transactions in the last three weeks.

CT96 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Doh! Watch, someone's going to come around from one of the German Security agencies asking why you were getting Militia Training in the USA. I learned this week that had I attended, it would have constituted export of controlled information (participation in the training of a foreign national in the use of firearms), and I would have gotten in quite a bit of trouble had anyone found out. Some day I'm going to get out of this line of work...
BansheeOne Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 In fact long before this I&I was ever conceived of, when new legislation was introduced here to make travelling abroad to receive combat training illegal in answer to Middle Eastern jihadi tourism, I puzzled whether this would preclude me from participating in such types of events. Of course the language is specific about "preparing a severe felony endangering the state", and moreover the felony must be intended to be committed on German territory or against German citizens if preparations take place outside the EU. I'm pretty sure I can prove that TankNet is not a terrorist organization. Well, somewhat sure. Pat just advised that from January on they will be able to take credit cards again, which would simplify repeats considerably ...
