Planning ahead is a good idea. I should be travelling from the NY area as I will be flying into JFK.

I still plan to fly UA directly from Berlin on the 3rd, arriving EWR 1250 local, then meet with Fritz there.

When you arrive, make sure you get enough change for toll roads as well as bills for same. They do NOT take cards. I don't know if that strech between NJ and the free state of PA has toll roads but expect it to do so. X-Files may be able to say with authority. If you take I78 to I81 and thence to I64, the view should get quite pretty once you get past Bethlehem. Keep an eye out for the historical military stuff at Carlisle. And there's a humongous Cabelas along I78 on your right here.

I got my ezpass, got to check if any states along the way don't accept it.

Okay, plan at this point: Arrive EWR 1250 Sat 3rd; should be out of the airport by 1500. Meet Fritz and any others flying into or residing in the NY/NJ area. Quick look at Manhattan, notably USS Intrepid, but probably crash by 2100 due to time shift. Stay overnight in hotel near Fritz' (which one?). On Sun 4th, head south together, visit USS New Jersey on the way, check into Holiday Inn Lewisburg. Mon/Tue 5th/6th main event at PFT. After that, various possible activities in general area (ACW battlefields, USMC Museum Quantico, Udvar-Hazy Center, etc.). End up with one or two days in DC for National Air and Space Museum proper, general touristy things. Fly out from Washington on Sat 10th the latest.

Anyone needing rental hardware and ammo on site should notify PFT and copy me. I can only ensure that the numbers are correct.

LOL

I was told they were bought by a US company and nothing is made in Bulgaria anymore though they used to be some of the best...

You were told wrong. Arsenal Inc. is US owned... by former Bulgies. They still buy many components from Arsenal-BG/Bazanlak but use US made receivers otherwise they could not be 922® compliant. Aresnals are still the Bentleys of the AKdom.

Finally FedEx-ed the docs for me and Axel, they should have them Thursday.

I somehow let it slip by me that we were planning the annual members convention of our Taiwan Society for that week, but have now officially secured it for vacation anyway. So, what's the word on activities after the rifle class? Come July I want to book appropriate flights.

Anybody else coming from the old continent?

I am not sure what my job situation will be in October, so I can't promise I'll stick around with you after the class, may have to hightail it back to NJ at ludicrous speed. I'll let you know as soon as I have some idea but it won't be in the next few days for sure.

I just broke my "I heart Berlin" umbrella in a most stupid way. Really mad about it. Please bring a replacement. It is IMPORTANT.
