It might not have been C-802 or any other sort of anti-ship missile. Some are saying it was an rpg attack via boat.

Anti-tank weapons wouldn't inflict that kind of blast damage. The holes are just too big. Maybe the small boats were spotting for a shore battery that fired the missile. Does China have any anti-ship missiles that can by guided by laser in the terminal phase?

I'm not so specific on things that go boom. It's the other Jason who would know better.

Damage does not appear to be blast. Definitely C-802 sized blast anyway. Some kind of AT weapons likely used with a lot of resulting fire damage. Hull integrity seems *completely* unaffected.

A C-802 can sink a frigate or even a destroyer in a single hit. This seems like the work of a C-701 or 704. The C-701/704 is a smaller anti-ship missile and it's not inconceivable that the Iranians managed to sneak a few to the Houthis. The Iranians also have a few versions of C-701s with various seekers.

The C-802 is larger and won't be as easy to sneak in as opposed to the C-701. The Palestinians nearly managed to get their hands on a C-701 a few years back but the Israelis intercepted it:

The BBC has the same totals, though I think both reports are quoting Jamie McGoldrick, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Yemen. The Saudis are going to suffer some blowback over this, since they just racked up a bigger one-airstrike killing of civilians than anything than any airstrike in Syria. And they have good access to PGMs and lots of money, so they don't really an excuse for this massacre.

Are the Saudis blood-crazed maniacs, or just crap?

Yes.

To the Saudis the Houthis are infidels, they are Shia (but a different form of Shia than the Iranians who are 12ers). They want to cause a maximum of suffering on the Zaidi tribesmen that they are fighting. This is part of why the Saudis are engaging in a campaign of starvation against them. At a bare minimum they do not care for the suffering of Zaidi noncombatants.

It doesn't help that the skill level of Saudis in a war is akin to monkeys fornicating with a football.

According to some casualty lists, a lot of high brass was present at the funeral:

If true, this was a rather successful strike in terms of decapitating efforts.

The Houthi's are retaliating by firing ballistic missiles at Taif inside Saudi-Arabia. One hit King Faid Airbase and caused a lot of secondary explosions.

The Houthi's attempted to damage / sink the USS Mason:

U.S. Navy ship targeted in failed missile attack from Yemen: U.S.

A U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer was targeted on Sunday in a failed missile attack from territory in Yemen controlled by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, a U.S. military spokesman told Reuters, saying neither of the two missiles hit the ship.

The attempted strike on the USS Mason, which was first reported by Reuters, came just a week after a United Arab Emirates vessel came under attack from Houthis and suggests growing risks to the U.S. military from Yemen's conflict.

The failed missile attack on the USS Mason began around 7 p.m. local time, when the ship detected two inbound missiles over a 60-minute period in the Red Sea off Yemen's coast, the U.S. military said.

Fooled by propaganda: the footage of the explosion with secondaries is old (supposedly F-15 crash, loaded with ordnance and somewhere else).

Trauma surgery in Yemen is apparently not the greatest, resulting in the updated list of unknown truthfulness.
