Corinthian Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 So... The 1/16 Leo2A6 hasn't arrived yet. But already I was thinking of giving it "real" smoke grenade launchers. I was looking at the blackpowder mini cannons and I was thinking if it was possible to make something like that.Of course, the real thing fires the smoke grenades which then explode in the air to create a smoke screen. I figured that'd be too difficult to do. So just smoke screen created just as the smoke launchers "fire" will do to approximate the real thing. Ideas?

I remember HO model trains used to have - 45 years ago - a way of producing smoke from oil dripped into the smokestack, I would presume a small coil. But dry ice may be better for your application.

DB Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Electrically ignited match heads would be more fun. I'm sure that one could create a mix that would have more smoke. The problem with the heat would be that the gauge of the metal you'd need for the barrels would be way off scale, so sadly the "cool" steam oil approach would probably be more appropriate.

Corinthian Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!! TANKS!
DougRichards Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!! TANKS! And if the charge isn't quite right - too much and blows the tubes apart and damages your tank, too little and the grenades land on the vehicle and - damages the tank...... And if the local constabulary find out about the enterprise: headline "Local Lawyer Caught Building Robot Tank with Explosive Device" Edited January 1, 2015 by DougRichards
rmgill Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 If it's to scale it's going to be smaller than a lifting charge for the tinniest of firework. Unless home made fireworks that make smoke and go "peep" are illegal in the Philipines...
DougRichards Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 okay "Local Lawyer Caught Building Robotic Tank with Incendiary Firing Devices"
Stefan Fredriksson Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 There is a poor man's version of that we used to do a lot as kids.Place two matches head-to-head, wrap tightly in a small piece of tinfoil (from cigarette-packs were great), light third match, heat under. Swoosch.
Archie Pellagio Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 "Local Lawyer IS S.P.E.C.T.R.E" Closely followed by headline:Local historical AFV owner mysteriously disappears.
TonyE Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 okay "Local Lawyer Caught Building Robotic Tank with Incendiary Firing Devices" We are talking Manila here, so "Local Lawyer Caught Building Military Army Robot Tank with Army Military Incendiary Firing Devices".
