Stuart Galbraith Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 That was POW. Still being unbent I gather.
Stuart Galbraith Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 First episode on youtube of the new BBC documentary on the Queen Elizabeth deployment of 2021. Very good so far, particularly the second episode where the Russians go a bit postal.
shep854 Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Thanks, Stuart! That was a really good watch. I subbed on YouTube and hope I can catch later episodes.
Stuart Galbraith Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Glad you liked it, keep an eye open for episode 2, quite a bit of the USMC on that one.

Stuart Galbraith Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Actually the commander of the USMC contingent was born in England, so I guess that proves it.
Sardaukar Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) Good series, just saw episode one of this. Previous one was OK too, with destroyer, but this seems to be better. Edited January 31, 2023 by Sardaukar
Stuart Galbraith Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Hms Daring? That was Channel 5, very good though. This is the BBC follow up to Britain's Biggest Warship, about the workup of Queen Elizabeth II. The filmer has apparently written a book about it.
shep854 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 It's interesting how many series on the Navy have been produced on British TV.
Stuart Galbraith Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Yep. And not one single one on the ruddy Royal Armoured Corp. There was one I was watching on youtube the other day called Fighter Pilots, that aired long ago in 1981, about a squad of people joining the RAF, learning to fly. Disturbingly I can vividly recall it the first time around... As always, check out 'Sailor' if you ever happened to miss it.
lucklucky Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/anglo-french-row-erupts-over-breakdown-of-britain-s-3bn-aircraft-carrier/ Quote Yet the HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier, which cost taxpayers £3bn, spent most of last year docked after problems were discovered with the vessel. A long-planned visit to the US was cancelled because of propeller issues, leaving its sister ship the HMS Queen Elizabeth II as Britain's operational carrier. The consortium of the British and European companies that built the 65,000 tonne HMS Prince of Wales are now nervously awaiting a government report into the problem, amid calls for whoever is to blame to foot the bill for the damage. “There's going to be quite a large amount of finger pointing,” says one industry insider. “It's a little bit embarrassing, let’s be honest.”
Stuart Galbraith Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Sounds like the Torygraph, if in doubt, blame the French.

Sardaukar Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Second episode of The Warship Tour of Duty was pretty good. It is very amusing to see how different people RN and USMC are. I didn't know there is a thing called "Juneteenth", abolition of slavery celebration.
Stuart Galbraith Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 It's a shame the RN doesn't celebrate it more, after all, they did the lions share of ending it. Have you got to the bit with the ruskies yet? Get a bit upset..

Stuart Galbraith Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Yeah, looking at Ukraine, funnily enough..

shep854 Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Juneteenth only became a thing in the last few years.
Stuart Galbraith Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 And the latest episode had Pride day. I can almost imagine the Tanknet reaction to that. Though to be honest, its only getting back to Royal Navy tradition, now all they need to do is reintroduce the lash and the Rum. Oh, good bit with the Chinese Navy being foxed by the QE battlegroup doing EMCON. Despite lots of money they still seemingly have lots to learn.
