Yeah, on the other hand those Hinds...

Few years ago there's been some 'celebration' in 'Polish area', there was a lot of our military personnel and locals, when suddenly few of our Hinds made a low pass above. I heard that older Afghans almost shat their pants.

Haven't seen Afghans reactions to Hinds, but mortars INS seemed to be scared of...every time in TIC when we got the mortars out and ready fire the INS just disappeared to air...if not before but at least after first rounds were in they were gone! The ANA guys told us that Soviet very good with 82mm's and it is in the blood of locals to be afraid of mortars. One can destroy tank with IED or RGP, but you can't do anything if you are caught by accurate mortar fire... And yes sometimes on temp LUP we just happened to shoot couple of illumination rounds into the air and there was no one interrupting the good night sleep :D

Son of a gun. Who knew Bruce Springsteen could front the E Street Band AND tote an RPG against the Russkies back in '79. The guy is amazing. No wonder why they call him "The Boss".

How do you say "Jungleland" in Pashto?

Great picture Bojan!

This T-62 has the uparmoured glacis too (I've seen pictures of T-62M's which lack this) as well as the track skirts. Would the uparmouring be done at depot level or can this be done in the field?

In the Estonian's recollections, he describes the squad man carrying both a .50 machine gun and an automatic grenade launcher. Yet he says there loads were no more than 45 kg. How did that do that? Current nato special forces in Afghanistan seem to carry heavier loads but fewer heavy weapons.

Ive never seen the figures for aircraft hit by Stinger, this surely has to be pretty rare?

If there is any truth in this:

At least some of those Su-17/22/25 etc. losses had to be because of Stinger.
