Ken Estes Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 If you read the rest of that article on the Guntruck website, you will see what they mean. It was very ambitious for its day, technically. So was Davy Crockett. Tactical Nuc fires are supposed to be in close support and the maneuver troops would be exploiting them rapidly after their detonations, avoiding the hottest spots of course. This was serious stuff. In my final map exercise for the captain's course at Ft Knox, I was the S-3 of a mech brigade approaching Mukden. The problem had some 26 nucs allocated to the brigade alone.

You placed them on the map to cover the enemy position. Field maneuvers at the division level were delay, defend, counterattack, then a final exchange of nukes which ended the exercise.
Ken Estes Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Oddly enough, that is what NATO was doing in the exercises I saw, Bold Guard 78 and WINTEX/CIMEX 81
EnsignExpendable Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 There are Soviet era documents that still remain secret, the secrecy of some have been refreshed (largely the "special" department ones), and some are secret by sheer inertia, because too few people know or care about them to request that they be declassified. Naturally, knowing how many of each kind exists is a secret of its own
X-Files Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 And better: http://projectjennifer.white.at/ or http://www.amazon.com/Project-Azorian-CIA-Raising-K-129-ebook/dp/B004P1JENO/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1413398035&sr=1-1&keywords=project+Azorian If you want to avoid the fiction. Read Sewell's book?
RETAC21 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Yes, pure fiction. Nothing to do with known and established facts.
firefly1 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 . Some of the latest files released from the TNA:PRO ; http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/11184781/Seven-things-we-learn-from-the-latest-MI5-declassified-files.html .
Gavin-Phillips Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 It doesn't surprise me that someone has at least mentioned little green men, although "they weren't green". No doubt there are many out there who are still waiting for those "obviously still classified" documents relating to the UFO crash in Roswell in 1947. A topic which still holds much debate even today and no doubt will continue to do so. I've heard of the "30 year" law before, but was wondering what the Russian laws are on this kind of thing? How long did it take any details on the F117A, B2 and/or similar projects to be released? Obviously some of it still hasn't been (perhaps construction materials or certain avionics) but I'm sure we know a hell of alot more about these aircraft now than what we did when they were just rolling off the production line.
firefly1 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 . And some more files, this time from the US ; http://www.ndtv.com/article/world/in-cold-war-u-s-spy-agencies-used-1-000-nazis-612319?utm_source=ndtv&utm_medium=top-stories-widget&utm_campaign=story-8-http%3a%2f%2fwww.ndtv.com%2farticle%2fworld%2fin-cold-war-u-s-spy-agencies-used-1-000-nazis-612319 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-29795749 .

Gavin-Phillips Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 They were UFOs just not from another planet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Genetrix I do recall hearing some details concerning Project Mogul; this particular one being put forward as the source of the wreckage found in 1947 near Roswell. There was some 2-part documentary covering this story on the BBC going back a few years ago. Thanks for the link.
LouieD Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 When I was researching the BAOR ORBAT I finally was able to track down the Army Master Order of Battle 1991 from the MOD. In correspondence with the MOD, they informed me that they would have to review it for anything "sensitive" that they would not want out in public (yes I know we are talking about 1991). Well when I finally got it everything was there, units, training establishments, ranges, ammo dumps, etc........EXCEPT they redacted the whole section concerning 22 SAS !!! 21 & 23 were included as BAOR reinforcements but "Them" were completely wiped away (no black marker, the relevant section was just whited out) !!!!
Phil Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 That would be a VERY interesting document to read.
JWB Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Whattayaknow UK had a molten salt reactor of their own. Deep in the vaults of the UK National Archives at Kew, South West London, lie a series of extraordinary documents which few have examined since they were composed in the 1960s and 1970s. Now declassified, the documents are the remaining records of Britain’s Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) programme, relics of a time when nuclear fission R&D was considered a priority by the British government.http://www.the-weinberg-foundation.org/2014/11/13/the-uks-forgotten-molten-salt-reactor-programme/
