Fair point indeed, perhaps his highliness wants that job too?

I think he might get a little peeved at the perks though.

Well, he aspires to be the Tsar, and the Tsar was the head of the state that saw itself as 3rd Rome. Ego, he is effectively the pope. He certainly runs the Russian Orthodox church with more direct control than the Pope ever has over the Vatican.

Lets face it, he is in his own mind God. And when one does what God does enough times, one becomes as God is, as they say on Manhunter. I think this is literally true in his case.

I'm sorry but it this complete Wester-style nonsence. Tsar newer was head of Russian Orthodox Church  - Patriarch was before Peter The Great (and there was constant rivalry between Tsar and Patriarch branches of power).  Peter the Great, after death of Patriarch Andrian in Y1700,  posponed approval of new Patriarch, declared himself Emperor and replaced Patriarch with civil collegial board (Sinod) formally chaired by Emperor (de-facto it was bureoucratic body). Neither Tsar nor Emperor newer were Gods or even religeous head, unlike British King.

This picture is variation of numerous simmilar ones, "Putin is the God of pro-Ukrainians"

It is not coconut but hazel tree ("Oreshnik" in Russian). It is, obviously, review of Internet memes and jokes.

Part of increasing PLAN activity.

Chinese Navy ships passed through the waters surrounding the Nansei Islands 68 times while sailing between the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean in 2024, Defense Minister Gen Nakatani said at a press conference Friday.

The number was over three times higher than that recorded in 2021.

The number of incidents of Chinese Navy ships passing through this part of the sea has risen steadily in the past few years, from 21 in 2021 to 46 in 2022 and 53 in 2023.

The Chinese Navy has been increasingly active in the Pacific Ocean. About 1,200 takeoffs and landings of Chinese carrier-borne aircraft were confirmed in 2024.

Need a little boldness to sail through there these days.

TAIPEI (Kyodo) -- A Royal Canadian Navy frigate transited the Taiwan Strait on Sunday, marking Canada's first such passage this year through the waterway that separates self-ruled Taiwan from mainland China, Taiwan's Foreign Ministry said.

The Halifax-class frigate HMCS Ottawa passed through the strait as Taiwan's armed forces maintaining full control over the surrounding sea and airspace, according to its foreign and defense ministries.

Well he is going to try to keep the yanks onboard, and for us, its not quite such a clear matter of ditching them because so many of our capabilities are generated with them. OTOH, I think he is on a hiding to nothing personally, but he has to give it a go.

Cold War Late Partition/Interwar Period/WW2*, The Reimagined Series

Our FM Sikorski is visiting Japan together with Deputy MoD. He said a few words on board of Mikasa, mentioning Russo-Japanese war and Battle of Tsushima and how... these are things that connect Poland and Japan :D

Quote

Action plan signed for implementing Polish–Japanese strategic partnership

The meeting between Minister Sikorski and Minister for Foreign Affairs Takeshi Iwaya of Japan concluded with the signing of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Polish¬¬¬–Japanese Strategic Partnership until 2029.

Talks focused on bilateral cooperation, including the preparation of agreements on social security, mutual protection of classified information, and cooperation between space agencies.

The ministers discussed opportunities for collaboration in defence industry, nuclear energy, developing transport infrastructure, and the sale of agri-food products.

Ministers Sikorski and Iwaya also discussed preparations for Expo 2025, defence and agri-food trade fairs, and the planned autumn visit of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

During a working dinner, the ministers spoke about the prospects for peace in Ukraine and the situation in the Pacific following the change of US administration.

Minister Iwaya declared that Japan’s policy on Ukraine remains unchanged as the country is committed to a lasting and just peace in Ukraine.

Obligatory schizo take

*we were really tight with the Japanese then, obviously covertly during WW2, they even told us to fuck off and shove our 'declaration of war' (haha, good joke!) where the sun don't shine

Well, at the risk of raising assumed assertions going too far, Zelensky could go to the heart of the matter with Hokushin-ron.

But anyway.. while in essence, I do view favorbly growing relations,  including defense, with Poland.. security concerns from all over the place are becoming a real driving force. Everyone is on edge

Sikorsky's words from the X bit on Mikasa:

Dzis spotkanie z Ministrem Spraw Zagranicznych Japonii i podpisanie dlugofalowego planu wspolpracy ale teraz znajdujemy sie naa pokladzie pancernika Mikasa, okretu flagowego Japonii podczas zwycieskiej dla Japonii bitwy pod Cuszima w 1905 r. Wplynela ona na losy Japonii, Europy i Rosji. Sa to sprawy, ktore Polske i Japonie lacza.

And the google gods work of translation:

Today we meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and sign a long-term cooperation plan, but now we are on board the battleship Mikasa, the flagship of Japan during the victorious Battle of Tsushima in 1905. It influenced the fate of Japan, Europe and Russia. These are the issues that unite Poland and Japan.

I think we will see nuclear proliferation in the EU in the next five years based on French technology and Germany accepting a relaxation of the debt rules. Probably Poland will get its own nukes, perhaps Germany, too. Although nobody wants to talk about it and everybody acts like nothing is happening, it’s clearly written on the wall. US strategy is stupid beyond belief. Continuing the current foreign and security policy path, they will be alone against possible Chinese aggression and lose Taiwan and all influence in the Pacific west of Hawaii. For Europe it is to arm itself, keep the Russians out, arrange with China which will replace the US as the global powerhouse and do some nice trade deals. I have no idea what the US will do. If alliances and trades shift away from them, the USD will not be needed anymore. They will experience a really hard landing if they suddenly have to balance budgets and economy without a steady influx of foreign capital.
