Ivanhoe Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 http://www.today.com/food/meet-man-who-has-eaten-pizza-every-meal-25-years-2D12176610 When Dan Janssen tells people about his pizza-only diet, he usually gets one of two reactions. "They either want to kill me, or they think I'm a hero,'' he told TODAY.com. Janssen, 38, claims that he has eaten pizza for nearly every meal over the past 25 years. He said he rarely eats breakfast, subsisting on mainly coffee in the morning, and then downs a whole pizza for lunch and another one for dinner, day after day. I can see how the frozen pizzas would be bad for health, but freshly made pies by a real restaurant can't be any worse for you than a steady diet of Lean Cuisine.
Corinthian Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) He's a vegetarian. Article mentions plain pizzas. I figure that's just cheese pizza. And since he's a vegetarian, I reckon the other pizzas he eats don't contain pork, beef, maybe not even fish. With tomato sauce, veg, cheese, and the crust, that's a full meal there with protein and carbs. IOW, article doesn't fully tell the entire truth, focusing instead on the word "pizza" to shock the reader. Distilling it, it is all meh. Edited February 27, 2014 by TomasCTT
snafu_72 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Try the Light Beer diet. No solid food before 6 PM and then all the light beer you can drink until you pass out.
Ivanhoe Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 What I got from the article is that the guy tried going veg, but returned to carnivorous status when he went pizza.
Skywalkre Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 The Vice article linked in the above one mentions he's still a vegetarian. The below quote makes his diet sound a lot less appealing. I've been eating pizza exclusively every day of my life for the past 25 years, and I'm not just talking about a slice of pizza every day. I usually eat an entire 14" pizza, and I only eat cheese pizza. I never get sick of it.
Corinthian Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Indeed. Hence the article just focusing on the word "PIZZA!" to make it sound like a shocking new diet. Of course, thousands upon thousands of people looking to lose weight but can't because of their succumbing to cravings for lack of discipline will think "OMG THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!" and will go on a "pizza diet" like so many diet fads out there.
