Russians know that if they play nice for a few years, in the West there will be new administrations and new leaders, who will forgot everything and things will go back to cordial etc. Look how quickly almost everyone forgot the Georgian war despite very tough contemporary rhetoric. It was all smiles and silly reset buttons. Call me an optimist if you will, but I think this one is gonna stick.

But in truth, Mig has had abysmal after sale service for years, and I think Poland and Bulgara are largely self sufficient. I got the impression they actually have higher availability rates than their aging F16s.

Roman Alymov
Wow, the words i have never hoped to hear from somebody in our Government Volodin (Rus Parliament speaker) called an unacceptable position and betrayal of the people the approach of a number of cultural figures opposed to the operation in Ukraine, "who did not notice what was happening in the DPR and LPR and even today do not condemn neo-Nazis." "If you are so principled, start by refusing state grants, from positions in budgetary institutions" Similarly, he assessed similar statements "from those born with a golden spoon in their mouth and who went abroad." "To begin with, return to your homeland, work for its benefit, and do not squander your parents' money in restaurants, clubs and resorts. Do not forget that their fortune is earned in Russia thanks to the work of citizens who are not going to leave." Seems like access of our pro-Western 5th column to state funds they were so comfortably consuming for decades might be finally blocked. This alone made reintegration of Ukraine worth the efforts and sacrifices.

More seriuosly, today Sweden crossed a line, selling arms to a country in war did not happen after the armsdeals with Israel and Egypt in the fifties. (minor quantites of Carl-Gusafs and spares to 40mm, during the cold war but neither of those was officialy approved by the PM) Im pretty shure it would not have been possible without Russian pressure. We'll join Nato in October. Cheers /John

Considering how pitifully impotent the RusAF and russian missiles units has been at taking out Ukrainian airbases, I'm not overly worried.

Yep. Like @Dawes pointed out it's probably too late now to start introducing new complicated weapon systems. More of what they already have and less complicated stuff should be the focus right now.
