That's a pretty shocking majority from most any legislature. I'm still amazed at the complete turnaround just since February. It seems perfectly justified given current events, but it still seems so weird to have moved so fast.

When it comes to security, there has always been very large consensus. But this is indeed almost unheard of.

I can just say:

They hit a f*&$%#g tree first, and then the ground proper. Really nothing to see there. Kaczynski had a tradition of forcing his pilots to do stupid things that were against regulations. Please don't sink into the tinfoilhattery Stuart, you're better than that.

The British results says the tree wasnt solid enough to knock the wing off. The British AAIB says it, a respected air accident investigator of over 40 years says it, then its not tin hattery. It physics.

Ill be fair, the AAIB explanation hasnt found universal acclaim. This Dutch AAIB investigator doesnt accept the British explanation, yet found his own disparities with the evidence. Which either means the investigation was a complete bodge, or there was in fact something very wrong with the conclusions.

I seem to recall being called a tinfoil hat for saying Putin was a threat, so it just goes to show doesnt it? :D

The point I'm making is that in Polish internal discourse, Smolensk is something that even most of pro-PiS people wouldn't mention, as it makes you look ridiculous. Even as the war broke out there was no return to the subject in the (unofficial) party media. The report of the second commission was released probably cause it was a time when nobody would make a big deal of how silly it was, given the distractions at hand.

But of course I recognize your right to the tinfoil hat, wear it proudly if you choose to ;)

Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Romania and Finland will not agree. Hundred thousand murdered or deported citizens of this countries did not "visit" USRR (Russia is USRR's heir) before USRR invaded this countries. EOT.

Would you be so kinde and provide link for those "Hundred thousand murdered or deported" by Russia.

I know for sure that historicaly violence regularly came from "west"

Here you go, a good point to start educating yourself on the subject:

I watched some  Soviet TV in the days of Glasnost. I can recall watching a TV programme coming from the Soviet Union about 1986 onto a TV programme called 'The time, the place', a live satellite link up with a British TV chat show. Very interesting. Im sure all the people in the room were groomed party members, but you could still sense the nervousness and the excitement at being able to ask questions, and get honest answers! From both sides actually. I can still remember it clear as day nearly 40 years later.

I get to watch lots of clips of Russian shows examining the war. A lot, it all gets clipped and put up on twitter. And that is the first one in the past 3 months, when ive seen someone say something I can recognise as unvarnished truth. And my God didnt that harridan try to shut him up for saying it.

He is right. You are isolated, and you are losing. But dont take my word for it, take the word of one of your fellow Russians. Not that you will im sure.

So your ideas of Soviet and Russian TV are based on childhood memories of international broadcasts and some clips you come across in the Internet....  Well, quite solid sample.

Reality is, whatever you think about modern Russian TV, it is not even close to single opinion voiced by most of Western media when it comes to Russia-related events. Our propaganda, with all known misperfections (see Strelkov's oninion about them), have learned a lot, and now it is common practice to invite opponents (even hire them with significant expence, like it was done with pro-Ukrainian experts) and have what it least looks like heated debate, with lots of ahrdline opinions voiced. Way better than Atlantic Council "expert panels" who are mostly in agreement one with another.....

Thanks for the link.

How that could be compared with this one:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_crimes_against_the_Polish_nation

Nazis killed 5 million, Soviets killed 150k and deported 1.5 million and enslaved us for 40 years. Does that make them the nice guys? Germans apologized and repented, while Russians ( official Soviet continuators no less) have never really admitted to what they did.  From our perspective both belong in hell, Nazis one circle deeper then Soviets.

Has there been any Ukrainian confirmation of an attempted Ukrainian attack between Gulyai Pole and Malinovka yesterday?

Rus MoD started leaking information about this events

Russian servicemen in Zaporozhye blocked an attempted counterattack by Ukrainian armed formations

️Two Ukrainian mechanized battalions with tanks and IFVs attempted to attack Russian Armed Forces units near Vishnevoe, Zaporozhye region.

️The deployment of enemy armoured vehicles and preparations for the attack were uncovered by Russian UAVs and technical reconnaissance assets.

💥 The enemy's armoured vehicles were attacked by UAVs and artillery units during their advance and deployment at the attack line, after which the attack was repelled by fire from tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and modern anti-tank weapons.

💥 The retreating Ukrainian tanks and IFVs were destroyed by artillery fire.

📊 As a result of the Kiev regime's futile adventure, 26 Ukrainian tanks, 12 IFVs and about 100 fighters

 were destroyed.

Ok.  More reporting on the possible Donets crossing.

Is it real?  If not, has there ever been any false reporting of a change in Ukr LOC of this magnitude?   This is being reported for both Ru and Ukr sites.

IMO I think we can accept that something has been thrown across the Donets and discuss its implications.

Next war started by NATO or USA will sour the public opinion about it again, it's what always happens.

This "now" is at least 8 years long (actually more, as US/NATO started building this proxy army decades ago).

Rus SP Artillery in action, note number of ammo boxes indicating this position is in use for quite a long time

Was the cartridge case for the ammo silver colored? I thought I saw a copper one being ejected. What was the silver thing shoved into the gun?

I think it is steel zinc-covered cartridge, but i am not specialist in it.

Zinc plated cartridge, I used to have quite a bit of it myself from Wolf for my 7.62 x 39 and 7.62 x 54R
