TOW-2 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Whats with that thing above the commander's sight on the Puma? Some sort of training device?That is another sight. It is turned towards the rear of the turret in that photo. It has a panoramic sight on top of a panoramic sight?
jmcmtank Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 That extra sensor has been removed for the static firing trials;
Panzermann Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) The "periscope" above the periscope is part of the active protection system going by the name of MUSS (multifunktionales Selbstschutzsystem [multifunctional self protection system]). And the position above the periscooe gives a 360° coverage for both aps and periscope. Edited January 12, 2014 by Panzermann

Steelspear Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Strv 122 tank drifting. Or 47.6 liter V12 p*rn.This is my tank company doing some winter driving a bunch of years ago.Last week the support platoon with it´s CV90´s and the ARV 120 had this exercise. It is a serious exercise, led by an officer/NCO. Not as some believe on the Webs, soldiers playing around. http://youtu.be/P5aWAW2hea4 Edited January 20, 2014 by Steelspear
Colin Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Does swinging the turret counteract the drift? I notice the turret being swung, otherwise it would seem logical to keep it locked over the deck.
Steelspear Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 The turret definitly affect the hull under these conditions. That is one of the lessons the crew is supposed to walk away with after the exercise.At least the driver needs to be aware of how the tank will behave unde slippery conditions, with a moving turret.
Mr King Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Mr King, thank you. You are quite welcome.
