rmgill
Those tanks are outside. Can't they at least put them under a pole barn? Edited August 12, 2013 by rmgill
Walter_Sobchak
Those tanks look great! Usually when you see them on public display, they don't have the .50 cal still on the roof. I always liked how the M4 "easy eight" looked with the Korean war era tigers or dragons painted on the front.
Harold Jones
No problem with tanks outside, so long as they keep the paint up. Lord knows there's enough M1s in the world that one sitting outside the museum won't make much difference.
rmgill
A modern era tank may not leak water into key spaces, but a WWII era tank will and the water will corrode spaces better left protected long term.
Panzermann
A roof would also help against the fading of paint through exposition to the sun. At the moment these look better than those terrible grey (and in sad condition) tanks from the old museum, but in some years? The paint will be faded and rain will get in I bet. Edith wants to if they painted inside the Abram's muzzle?? Edited August 20, 2013 by Panzermann
Mr King
Yeah when I visited the museum when it was at Fort Knox the outside exhibits were in poor condition compared to the ones they kept indoors.
Jim Warford
A few pics from the May 2011 Armor Museum ribbon cutting and tank christening ceremony at Fort Benning, GA (hopefully these aren't reposts): Back in the day, we christened our new M60A3 TTS tanks after drawing them at Vilsek, with bottles of Plank Bier. We were the Red Lions, so it was only fitting...
ShotMagnet
The Easy Eight looks beautiful. My unstinting praise to its restorers. Shot
