I been in search of decent locally made sausages since I came back from Florida a few years ago. I had found a little Polish butcher shop down there that made everything in house. Absolutely awesome quality. Some friends recently told me about a butcher shop in a nearby farming town that made all their sausages in house. The place has been in the same family for 80 years. I drove there yesterday and and picked up quite a variety. Horseradish brats, habanero brats, English bangers, French style sausages, and the butcher threw in some of their breakfast sausages on the house. They also had dill brats, cherry chip brats, apple brats, and ham and pineapple sausages. I was told their ham and pineapple sausages are excellent, but since I am avoiding extra carbs I didn't pick that variety up. I cooked up the the horseradish brats tonight, and they were absolutely delicious. It was interesting because it had all the horseradish flavor with out the sinus napalm effects, which I kind of missed. I am looking forward to trying the English bangers. Just wish I could fry up some potatoes and apples to go with my brats, but got to cut the carbs.

One of the nice things about Chitcago is the ethnic neighborhoods. I can get just about any food item in the world. S/F....Ken M

Yeah I got to sample a few of Chicago's ethnic restaurants back in high school working on a state project. I remember them being good. It's about the only redeeming quality of Chicago. Though you couldn't pay me to go to Chicago now.
