Tucker Carlson has his newest target: Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the anti-Nazi, Christian evangelist executed by the Third Reich in 1945.

In the latest episode of his show, which was dedicated to denouncing Jewish-American commentators Mark Levin and Ben Shapiro, Carlson remarked that “once you start calling people Nazis, we really have no choice but to start shooting them. To be Dietrich Bonhoeffer and sort of reach the end of reason, or even Christianity. Bonhoeffer decided Christianity’s not even-, he was a Lutheran pastor. Christianity is not enough, we have to kill the guy [Adolf Hitler]. I’m not judging Bonhoeffer, who was a great man in some ways, but that’s inevitable once we decide that people are Nazis.”

Something screwy going on with X.com and the board software. In the short run, I think it best to post a screenshot of a tweet rather than the link itself.

This is a good take, IMHO. Its the old propaganda thing of causing people to believe nothing, so they'll believe anything. Very Russian/er, Soviet.

This Bonhoeffer guy was probably spreading rumors that Hitler was a nazi to justify the attempts on his life.  :D

Hitler was no Nazi, he was merely a Democratic Socialist. 😉

More than a seed of truth there. Churchill was enthusiastic about the start of WWI, for instance.

Possibly he was the man that did more to finish the German, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian Empires.

The British Empire too.

He was just one Cabinet member among many in 1914 and not the leader, officially or unofficially.  I suppose he can take some credit for the condition of the RN and its readiness for war, but doubt another miinister would have made a decisive difference.  The RN probably did more to win the war by blockade than anyone else.

If one person could be said to be responsible for WWI, it would be Wilhem II His policies led to Germany being enemies with Britain and Russia and tied 8them to Austria-Hungary and the Balkans.

The British Empire was doomed once a sense of Indian nationhood took hold.  If the wars hadn't happened, they'd have still lost it.

I saw a 'defaced' Bonhoeffer leaflet at SF State once upon a time...the 'first they came; then they came for...and I did nothing....in the end, somebody x'd out the 'they came for me' and  wrote over with a big felt pen 'AND THEY WERE ALL THE SAME PEOPLE, SO I STILL DID NOTHING'.

I don't know about "the Canadian establishment" but what I said about Churchill was entirely factual and about Wilhelm and India well supported by fact.

If you have actual data to the contrary, please post.

I think a lot of you are dancing around the fundamental question: is Fuentes wrong? Are you on his side? If not, what does that say about everyone who is?

Please, for our edification and to test if you understand it, what is Fuentes' position?

Please articulate it here, in your own words.

To me it seems more like Fuentes has 'streams of consciousness', he can be changing his mind often and his opinion from one week can be contradictory to the opinion from the previous one.

A bit from Fuentes-Carlson-Owens lore, it's all from the current year:

Was originally going to post this one in the "When Defending Cops Becomes Impossible" thread, but the level of stupid involved in this case ranged across the entire spectrum of the Right in this area - the people who made the complaint, the local prosecutor and judge who signed off on everything, and the sheriff (you can look up his interview with a local station that just... did not go well).

The article does a terrible job explaining what happened.  If folks are interested there are plenty of vids up on YT of local news agencies covering this story that go into better detail.

Basically, the man who was jailed was taking part in a discussion on FB regarding the Kirk assassination.  He posted a pic of Trump with a quote Trump had made about a year before after a school shooting in a different state.  Locals freaked out, because the city where that shooting took place had the same name as a local high school.  The man was arrested for threatening a school (which he didn't do... the locals were just idiots) and jailed for over a month before, as far as I can tell, the local coverage got enough traction where authorities eventually dropped the charges and let him go.

A retired policeman posted a Charlie Kirk meme. He spent a month in jail.

The 61-year-old Tennessee man plans to sue after authorities dropped charges over a political Facebook post. Free-speech advocates say it’s a symptom of a wider crackdown.

As a liberal in a deep-red Tennessee town, 61-year-old Larry Bushart knew the political memes he posted on Facebook tended to ruffle some feathers. He didn’t expect them to land him in jail.

Bushart, a retired police officer, was released from Perry County Jail in Linden, Tennessee, on Wednesday, more than five weeks since he was arrested at home after sharing a Facebook post about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah. The post quoted President Donald Trump saying “we have to get over it” after a deadly 2024 school shooting in Iowa. Authorities in Perry County had held Bushart on charges of threatening mass violence on school property, which he denied.

“Very happy to be going home,” Bushart told local radio station WOPC outside the jail. “I didn’t seek to be a media sensation, but here we are.”  Now he’s planning to sue, his attorney Joshua Phillips told The Washington Post on Thursday.

Exept the folks on the right are also unhappy about this. See also the Cato article.

You’re going to be posting about women being attacked on trains by lefty career criminals too right?

Got any love for Crook County’s latest drama?
