Stargrunt6 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 This one's a bit old. True confession: I was pro-war back then. What made it hard for some cons like myself to not be was it was such a partisan issue The opposition was mainly fueled by "not-our-guy"-ism than any real concern for losses of life, treasure and regional stability. But Gore would've done the same thing. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/why-the-paleos-were-right-about-iraq/ Â

I was wrong.

Is his word usage based on the 18th century definition, or the late 20th century? I think the theme of that article is excellent, and AFAIK unique in the opinionsphere. However, the author needs to be much more explicit and precise in word/term usage. Criticisms aside for the moment, props to the author for reminding us of Robert Novak, who I always thought was the one honest journo in Swampville. IMHO he was wrong on some stuff, but never for partisan motives. I did a quick web search, he published an autobiography right before he passed away.

Murph Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I am glad you like it. It has a very interesting flavor profile that, to me, is enjoyable.
Ivanhoe Posted May 12 Posted May 12 https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/05/totally-worthless-gop-controlled-house-senate-sent-fewer/  Quote  Americans overwhelmingly voted for President Donald Trump and his agenda. Unfortunately, this means nothing to the US GOP-controlled House and US GOP-controlled Senate. According to Amuse and Leading Report on X the current GOP-controlled Congress sent fewer bills to President Trump to sign into law than any Congress in 70 years!  The biggest part of this, IMHO, is that Speaker Johnson's constituency is Congress, not America.

Edited to add: Cries of antisemitism from the usual suspects: https://www.jpost.com/american-politics/article-862394 But, as Mr. Langford is a R would be candidate to California Governor, it seems more likely that was directed to Mexicans and others of South American origin. I mean I didn't see any Mex flags or anything noting conservatives....I didn't even know Cali had any "Rs" left, what with it being a one party supermajority. Suffice to say that I saw the 'Arbeit Macht Frei' sign and I know where that's found. Edited July 30 by NickM
Ivanhoe Posted August 1 Posted August 1 The R party consistently underperforms, given the values and mood of the electorate. Here is a great example why; Â
