Lieste Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I hope 15 seconds for 30+km is a gross underestimate... this is APFSDS territory.I'd guess at 45-60 seconds *at least*.
Harold Jones Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) I hope 15 seconds for 30+km is a gross underestimate... this is APFSDS territory. I'd guess at 45-60 seconds *at least*. Shell velocity is increased to speed up the game. http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/70-faq-round-up-from-the-na-forum-part-deux/ Q: Will we be looking at realistic engagement distances and times?A: Yes, realistic distances, though shells will have a tuned up speed (like 3-4 times higher to make game a little more fast-paced). Shells will also have their dispersion ellipse as in real life. You will have to predict the position of impact of your salvo, though the game will show you the exact dispersion ellipse of that zone. After first 3 salvoes, you dispersion ellipse will become minimal, which represents specification of target parameters Edited March 16, 2014 by Harold Jones
Marek Tucan Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Something on main battery. Again with cool GIFs - a preview is below

FlyingCanOpener Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Tanknetter spotted? Where?BTW, I spent the night on that ship for a birthday party when I was 7--still have the patch!
Max H Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) A rather bored looking Nick Moran, bottom right Edited March 24, 2014 by Max H
FlyingCanOpener Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Man, no one ever tells me when they're in my AO.
Skywalkre Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Q: WHEN?I hope they learned their lesson from WoWp and the answer is "when it's done".
Marek Tucan Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Through the eyes of Alpha testers... And some more pics Ship ID?
Ken Estes Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 The 2 BBs are ColoradosThe cruiser is too old for meCV is Soryu
Colin Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 So as you progress with the aircraft carrier do you upgrade the air wings as well?
Marek Tucan Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 It's only logical (yes, just been watching the Star Trek ) - though the exact mechanism of course is not public yet. By the way, the cruiser is CL-1 Chester, pre-WWI scout cruiser.
Marek Tucan Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Busting some myths here Interesting article to read. LINK and pics again:
Colin Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 So will only ships that could have been fitted with radar get it? Is visible range going to be a function of the height of the lookout on each ship that does not have radar?
Marek Tucan Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Tough one, esp. since basically you could slap radar on anyhthing Would need a lot of game design and balance tests yet to keep it "real" and, at the same time, enough fun. We shall see on this one.
Colin Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 thanks I was thinking "timewise" so anything mid WarII could get it
Marek Tucan Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 That's one of the big challenges (as shown in the "upgrade" blog post) - generally properly matching ships despite all the improvements - throwing a superdreadnaught with all mid WWII bells and whistles among the flock of Dreadnaughts would probably mean an easy win etc. We will see how exactly this will be solved, I can easily see how other games solved such things but every solution has its downsides.
Marek Tucan Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Second round HERE. Obligatory pictures and "guess what" here:
Marek Tucan Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Another Alpha insight. and more pics. What is #1? (Don't look at the link)
