Marek Tucan Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 A heads-up for y'all: Alpha applications open. EU NA
Harold Jones Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 since I only have 8 total posts in WoT/WoWP forums I guess I won't be applying in that thread.
seahawk Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Stupid rule with the forum posts. So far there was not much feedback to give.
Edmund Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks Tuccy. I can't log in from work. I will try to get an app in tonight when I get home.
RETAC21 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 No way I have 150 posts, so I´ll have to wait for the beta....
Harold Jones Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 To be honest, alphas usually suck, there isn't much game to play and what there is usually doesn't work very well. The best alphas are the most boring because they do a lot of focus testing on specific systems and feature frequent wipes. On the up side it is your best chance to give feedback that could influence the game.
RETAC21 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Historical ships - good, paper models - less good. Remember the meme, Tuccy Marek!
BansheeOne Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 What, don't you want to drive a Montana?
BansheeOne Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Think big! Kronshtadt vs. B-65! Sovetski Soyuz vs. IJN No. 798!
Mistral Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 So if they follow the same logic as in world of tanks, the tier X ships will be 3.000 tons and armed with a single 5 inch gun?
Marek Tucan Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Tier X submarine concept... Made you look, didn't I? Anyway here are some instructional pics. Second one is in search for a caption And now some serious pics... Source of pics (and more inside):http://blog.worldofwarships.eu/
RETAC21 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 What, don't you want to drive a Montana? Not really, too slow, I am happy with the Iowas and I'd rather not see impossible Japanese/German monsters around.
BansheeOne Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Well actually, I'm more of a large destroyer/light cruiser high-speed-high-ROF type myself. I'd like to try out the French contre-torpilleurs or Italian "Capitani Romani" first if available, even if they'll likely get swiss-cheesed fast by any competent opponent.
Marek Tucan Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Well last US gun cruiser class had autoloading 8"... Would prolly fit the bill. Anyway first two nations are known - US and Japan. So for beginning try to find "your" fav ships there
Edmund Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Marek, you said first two. I am hoping there will be at least a third. Of course I am hoping it is the UK. If they are only doing two at first I can understand them starting with US and Japan. They were one and two in naval power in WWII. But Britain was third. France then Italy if you want my opinion. I just thought of a question. I can see navies for US, Japan, UK, France, Italy, and Russia. Then maybe Spain and Portugal(?). But then who? Can't think of anyone else.
Marek Tucan Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 You left out the Kriegsmarine. The Bismarck fanboys would be insufferable if it did not appear Spain would have trouble at higher tiers, same with Portugal. USSR and Germany at least have vaporware...
Edmund Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 You left out the Kriegsmarine. The Bismarck fanboys would be insufferable if it did not appear Spain would have trouble at higher tiers, same with Portugal. USSR and Germany at least have vaporware... Ooops! Thought I got them. Yes so 4 to start.
Marek Tucan Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 We shall see. Things may change unpredictably - for example see British tree / release with WoWP.
RETAC21 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 You left out the Kriegsmarine. The Bismarck fanboys would be insufferable if it did not appear Spain would have trouble at higher tiers, same with Portugal. USSR and Germany at least have vaporware... With paper projects? we would use Vittorio Venetos, Super-Canarias and Oquendos as they should have been.
Marek Tucan Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Spain planned to get Vittorio Veneto? Never knew Interesting, definitely
RETAC21 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Spain planned to get Vittorio Veneto? Never knew Interesting, definitely Sure, the 1939 navy plan sought the acquisition of - 4 battleships- 2 protected cruisers- 12 light cruisers- 54 destroyers- 36 topedo boats- 50 submarines- 100 MTBs The battleships would be Littorios, the 2 "protected" cruisers were defined as Super-washington (17500 tons, 36 knots, 12 8 inch guns), the light cruisers were Capitani Romani or Regolos, the destroyers would be the Oquendos (based on French machinery) and the torpedo boats, the Audaz class.
eurico_viegas Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) You left out the Kriegsmarine. The Bismarck fanboys would be insufferable if it did not appear Spain would have trouble at higher tiers, same with Portugal. USSR and Germany at least have vaporware... Portugal only has a chance if the game starts in 1500 and ends in the 1700s... Now thats a game I would play, at least once ETA: IIRC from early 20th century Portuguese Navy, there would be issues not only with the higher tiers, but also with the mid tiers. Low tiers too. Actually, anything above tier 2 would be very unlikely Edited November 25, 2013 by eurico_viegas
