Quite cool and interesting variant of the T-72, would be a shame if none would remain in museums. BTW, how hard is it for private museums in Poland to get a working example of a tank, IFV, or similar?

I assume not very hard, as there are private entities that let you ride (or even drive) tanks and other armored vehicles. https://panzer-farm.pl/en/integration-events/military-vehicle-rides/ https://muzeumgryf.pl/oferta/przejazdzki/

I read that in the MSM: more 72s go to Ukraine

Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar Łabędy definately have PT-91Ex and probably PT-91M2. I know that state Polish Armed Forces Museum and it's division Armor Museum in Poznań, want to obtain at least several PT-91's if this will be possible.

Damian Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 Great news! Today additional 12 K2 MBT's were unloaded in one of our ports. This means that as of today, Polish Army received 110 K2's. In 2025 70 more K2's will be delivered. There are also informations, that second executive agreement for 180 K2/K2PL MBT's, might finally be signed this year.
Sherman Posted March 10 Posted March 10 That is great news. Hopefully the first executive contract for the Borsuk will be signed this week.

Damian Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 More good news. Pearson Engineering will provide 99 SLICE adapter kits for Polish Army M1A1FEP and M1A2SEPv3 MBT's, as well as various engineering equipment like Dozer Blades, TWMP (Track Witdh Mine Plough) and in future probably also FWMP (Full Width Mine Plough) for our M1150 ABV's when we finally buy them. This might be actually interesting for @old_goat Here is news from Pearson Engineering -> https://www.pearson-eng.com/news/pearson-engineering-to-supply-99-engineering-capability-kits-to-polish-main-battle-tanks-via-u-s-foreign-military-sales-fms-office/?utm_source=hootsuite&utm_medium=&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=

Wouter2 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 The Polish rearmament is welcome news for the entire EU (except Hungary and Slovakia, I suppose).

Rick Posted March 22 Posted March 22 So if this ex-sailor has it right, Poland has large (separate?) tank units made up of German, Korean, and U.S. tanks ?

And PT-91s as well, for now at least. The land forces are expanding and the deliveries of both Korean and US tanks are still ongoing. After sending close to 400 tanks (T-72, PT-91s, a handful of Leo2A4s) to Ukraine, which should be about as much as the rest of the world combined, we have to improvise with the organisation for now. I assume (and hope) that the final structure as envisioned by our betters will see separate types of tanks in separate divisions, but it's the MoD we're talking about after all.

As for now, 18th Mechanized Division will use M1A1/M1A2 Abrams, 16th Mechanized Division will use K2 Black Panthers, and 11th Armored Cavalry Division will use Leopard 2's There is also 12th Mechanized Division, but at the moment they have single tank battalion, so they might also be rearmed with K2's.
Damian Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 @Mighty_Zuk To explain better. HSW is working on heavy IFV on their own accord right now, project is pretty advanced. In general if there is national heavy IFV and foreign design, most likely a national design will be choosen. Besides this WZM is working on building with GDLS Regional Competence Center for US made vehicles. I was recently at the Parliment subcommittee where these slides were presented.
Sherman Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Hopefully, with the new European Defence Fund Poland will be able to more fully capitalize military production capacity and provide for a more realistic procurement horizon for IFVs and other tracked/wheeled vehicles.
