Damian Posted May 8, 2024 Author Posted May 8, 2024 Heavy IFV project is moving forward. This is a more detailed 3d model of the heavy IFV. @urbanoid@Stuart Galbraith@Markus Becker@sunday@alejandro_
bojan Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 With fully external turrets that don't take dismounts space there are very few reasons against installing it.

bojan Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 (edited) Heavy whatever is going to cost a lot. 30mm + ATGM turret gives so much for their price that it would be pretty stupid to not have it at the vehicle that is going to be quite expensive anyway. Edited May 8, 2024 by bojan
Damian Posted May 8, 2024 Author Posted May 8, 2024 Heavy IFV will use the same ZSSW-30 unmanned turret as Borsuk amphibious IFV, Rosomak wheeled IFV and future Rosomak replacement. By the way, Borsuk succesfully passed all state trails. It is expected this year first executive agreement will be started and production will commence.

Are the vehicles but different versions of the same platform? Sort of, like wheeled Boxer and tracked Boxer.

It is good to see some progress on the heavy IFV. 18 Badgers already in pre-serial production, which is good, but they need brigades not platoons...NOW! As I understand, a purpose built facility is being prepared for their manufacture? cheers

However Borsuk, heavy IFV and new wheeled APC/IFV will also have specialized variants. 1 hour ago, Sherman said: It is good to see some progress on the heavy IFV. 18 Badgers already in pre-serial production, which is good, but they need brigades not platoons...NOW! I will feel better when the Army signs off, the executive is signed, and the production schedule comes into better focus. My birthday is coming up so they better get it done! It would be truly scandalous if the Polish Army is forced to go into battle relying on the BWP-1.

Development, tests, production and induction in to service of modern AFV's is always a process, sometimes a long process. But a lot of things is moving forward. It seems that K2PL program will also be finalized, executive agreement for first batch of K2PL's might be signed soon. 320 K2PL's are meant to be producted in Republic of Korea and 500 in Poland. New government from what I seen and from what I heard, is eager to continue cooperation with USA and Republic of Korea.
Damian Posted May 12, 2024 Author Posted May 12, 2024 Some photos from recent excercises, with M1A1FEP's and M88A2's in action, among other vehicles.
Damian Posted May 15, 2024 Author Posted May 15, 2024 Polish tank crews at Biedrusko Training Center. @Perun You might be interested that recently General Staff chief, said that Polish Ground Forces are moving from division centric approach to corps centric approach. Just recently 2nd Polish Corps had been restored. And considering planned number of divisions (at this moment 6) we might see one more formed.
sunday Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 One of the few European armies which have field commands suitable for Lieutenant Generals.

Damian Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 (edited) So recently I was able to get inside a T-55AM Merida medium tank. So I made a photo through a day channel of intgrated day/night sight - laser range finder CDDN-1, visible on that photo in front of TC cupola. So here is how sight view looks like. Of course Merida FCS is turned off, so here we can only see reticle. Edited May 19, 2024 by Damian

In fact current liberal government is continuing same programs and politics regarding defence, that previous conservative government started.
