My point was that Poland won't have to use it's tanks in anger as long as Ukraine doesn't fall. So there's no loss in parting with the least capable ones right away. This is the idea. As soon as new 4x4 amphibious recce APC Kleszcz will start to be delivered to the Army, more and more BRDM-2's will probably go to Ukraine. 24 minutes ago, Perun said: Are those a rubber tracks Yes, Borsuk is tested with conventional double pin steel tracks with replaceable rubber pads and new CRT (Composite Rubber Tracks). Based on tests results Army will decide which tracks they preffer. Here is a video of prototype with conventional steel tracks. And one more video showing Homar-K MLRS. And Baobab-K Scattered Mine Laying System. Edited March 21 by Damian

Damian Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 As for BRDM-2 replacement, AMZ Kutno developed Bóbr-3 (Beaver-3) vehicle, that in the Army will be named Kleszcz (Tick). Of course there are or will be other recce vehicles, like lightweight Żmija (Viper). Aero. KLTV named in Polish Army as Legwan. Rosomak R1/R2 and Borsuk IFV based Żuk combat recon vehicle.
Damian Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 More M1A1FEP's had been delivered from WZM in Poznań to 1st Armored Brigade in Wesoła near Warsaw.
Perun Posted April 1 Posted April 1 The Polish Armed Forces are now able to field a tank battalion equipped with the new K2 ‘Black Panther’ Main Battle Tank. This month saw further deliveries of the new tanks and has enabled the 16th Mechanized Division to begin integration of the tank unit in its structures. https://www.overtdefense.com/2024/03/25/poland-now-with-a-battalion-of-k2-black-panther/

So far we have 46 K2's so we are very close to form full tank battalion. We also have 69 M1A1FEP's, this means we can form entire tank battalion and we still have 11 tanks left, this is 3 tanks short to form a full company. However, General Staff is thinking about changing structures, so tank battalions will have 44 tanks, and that additional company will be a recce company with UAV's and UGV's. However right now these are just concepts.

Damian Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 26 minutes ago, Perun said: What would new oob look like Unknown yet, and we won't know anytime soon. Exact OOB's that are now in concept phase are classified. But from what was publicly said, new battalion structure would be nearly identical, but instead of current 58 tanks which is battalion CO and XO tanks + 56 tanks in 4 tank companies, it would look like that. Battalion CO and XO tanks and 3 tank companies with 14 tanks, and a recce company with UAV's and UGV's. This means one tank company less. However these additional tank companies would allow to form additional tank battalions or create larger tank reserves.

Yeah, in general this new vehicle looks like BRDM-2 on steroids.
Markus Becker Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I meant that the old vehicle(BRDM-2) had reasonably modern electronics inside already. They weren't mainly relying on the Mk.I eyeball and ears, weren't they?
