Markus Becker Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 How very strange given what other museums routinely call aircraft restauration. Making an identical copy of part that is wearing out is nothing compared to the plane-cromancy.

Meanwhile a PT-91 in Ukraine. This is a lter series PT-91, either PT-91MA or PT-91MA1 which means it is rebuild and modernized T-72M or T-72M1, however it is uncertain if modernized T-72M received T-72M1 turret during that upgrade. To be frank, incremental upgrades to PT-91's are not very well known also in Poland in case of publicly avaiable knowledge. Any news on PT-91 Twardy performance under the Ukraine Army? Heard it was used against the Russians in zaporizhzhia. Wonder if it was really better then other T-72 derivatives.

PT-91 is just improved T-72M1 with better protection, mobility and fire control system with thermal sight. It's nothing special really, just a good upgrade for it's time. Damian Posted January 23, 2024 Author Posted January 23, 2024 (edited) Photos from Nowa Dęba. This is from gunnery certification of Polish and American crews. They were certified using Tank Table VI. Polish crews used their M1A1FEP's, and American crews used their M1A2SEPv2's. Edited January 23, 2024 by Damian

Damian Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 This week, in Poznań at Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne, Regional Maintnance Center for M1 tanks and M88 armored recovery vehicles had been officialy open. At the moment WZM is gaining competences in Level 1 and 2, this means receiving necessary technical documentation, maintnance capabilities and tools. In longer term, WZM should receive more levels of competences. Level 3 and 4 means higher level of repairs, through replacement of primary modules, as well as refurbishment capabilities. Level 5 and 6 means general renovation, use of replacement parts produced by polish manufacturers, and production of spare parts, either produced under US license or developed in Poland. Level 7 and 8 means participation of polish arms industry in cooperation with GDLS and other US companies in development of upgrades for M1 tank, procurement of these upgrade packages, and also development of modifications and modernizations unique for Polish Army tank fleet. Final level also means production of M1 tanks in Poland within coproduction program with US. @Stuart Galbraith@Markus Becker@sunday@alejandro_@urbanoid@Manic Moran

urbanoid Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 (edited) Thanks, nice to see that not only someone thought of acquiring such capabilities, but also that it happened so quickly. Edited February 23, 2024 by urbanoid

Perun Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 it is not tanks but it is about Poland: The Polish Ministry of National Defence has signed a $2.5 billion deal with the U.S. government to acquire the Integrated Battle Command System, or IBCS, to synchronize the nation’s air- and missile-defense weapons under development. Deliveries are scheduled for the years 2024 to 2031. Poland intends to use the system to operate its Patriot missile launchers, which are part of the Wisla medium-range, air-defense program, and the Narew short-range equivalent, which relies on MBDA’s Common Anti-Air Modular Missile, or CAMM. The acquired systems will be sed for six Wisla batteries and 23 Narew batteries, the country’s defense ministry said in a statement https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2024/02/29/poland-signs-25-billion-deal-for-us-air-defense-software-hub/

Oh, the deficits and debt will rise surely, but it's on a relatively low level compared to EU average - ~40% according to domestic methodology and 50% according to the EU one, compared to EU average of over 80 and eurozone average of over 90. Countries that are scared shitless tend to invest in their defense.

And it's cheaper than eventuall war and destruction of entire country. We got through that in past, so lesson learned is, that investment in Armed Forces is a necessity.

If anyone ever doubts or questions defense investment as an idea, just ask them if they got car insurance.
