Roman Alymov
it seems the demographic of being critical of Putin and being someone nobody ever heard of is clearly exceptionally dangerous. I really should watch my step. Come on, millions of people in Russia are critical of Putin (including me) – so what? Nobody care.

Stuart Galbraith
There are already attempts to restrict some website. In fact I read the other day of someone being arrested in Russia for some kind of blasphemy law for saying there was no God. Which is clearly objectionable to some, arguably not worthy of a year long prison sentence. The best example its already happening? Navalny. Look at his anti corruption blog, and look at the exception the state took to it. Nobody heard of him either.

Look at his anti corruption blog, and look at the exception the state took to it. Nobody heard of him either. Some sites with questionable content are restricted. And yes it was at least one case of man arrested for his comments (but it was not just “saying there was no God” but heated discussion with other, pro-cleric Internet users with fault language and insults used by this man). Personally, I think attempts to regulate Inet are waste of time, but since Internet is increasingly living space for many people, one day regulations will come.Navalny became known not because of his blog, but because of his political activity heavily supported and promoted by Western media and Western-funded NGOs. While he was trying to make career as nationalist politician and obtain money via corruption deals of his own – he was not known. And there are lots of other anti corruption blogs and activities in Russia – but Western audience is unlikely to be ever informed about them since they are “wrong-type of anti-Putin activists”. For example today radical left party activists attempted to protest near Rosneft office in central Moscow, demanding nationalization of oil industry, but were arrested – who cares? It is the same party that was active in collecting funds for Novorossia. https://www.bfm.ru/news/346244

Stuart Galbraith
Senator McCain called the military mission to Yemen the other day a Failure, which seems to be causing all kinds of mayhem.http://www.redstate.com/streiff/2017/02/09/john-mccain-just-call-d-day-failure/ The reply on Twitter was,Sen. McCain should not be talking about the success or failure of a mission to the media. Only emboldens the enemy! He's been losing so.... long he doesn't know how to win anymore, just look at the mess our country is in - bogged down in conflict all over the place. Our hero.. Ryan died on a winning mission ( according to General Mattis), not a "failure." Time for the U.S. to get smart and start winning again!

Roman Alymov
You know Roman, I have to give credit, even when I disagree with you its always an interesting discussion. There is always some interesting SHTF in Russia, mostly missed by foreign press or reported much later. One of recent stories is Natalya Poklonskaya (good-looking girl from Crimean prosecutor office, now Duma member) demanding government to check and possibly forbid not yet completed fiction movie about love affair between Nicolay Romanoff (future tsar Nicolay II) and ballet denser Matilda Kseshinskaya. Grounf for that is Nicolay II id officially Rus orthodox church saint, and showing him in love affair may harm believers feelings blah blah blah . This story is causing lots of discussions. Roman Alymov
Well I would chalk the idea he is a genius up to a myth. The rest, not so much. Genius (like Alexander the Great or Napoleon) would not be just in Major rank at 39. So he is surely above average, surely in right place and right time, but not genius. mnm
Bah, we can see through your smokescreen, we know you are HIM trying to pass off as a decent person and weasel his way into the Grate Sight Not that we never had nor have our share of indecent people but I'm not going to name any names, especially those beginning with a T. JasonJ
The one that begins with T is actually not as evil as everyone makes him out to be although ISTR that he self-declares himself evil anyway, so overall, probably so, i a take it as true. But he's got some fair points. So not wholly evil, just partially. But that probably isn't enough to justify his end goals

Stuart Galbraith
Which begs the interesting question, if Putin as a Tanknet poster, which one of us would he be? You. Oh Tomas, surely that terribly unfair. I've killed hardly anyone recently. Besides, this requires someone with a white Persian and an unhealthy interest in tentacle porn. Im not sure where we would find someone like that.
