Invoking Godwin ... I just thought about Herr Hitler being an immigrant and vegeterian. So progressive!

There is a joke told in Germany:

One is a vegetarian, painter, animal rights activist, did not have a driver's license

the other smoker, drinker, meat eater, did drive cars

Now tell me who is the better person?

(first is Hitler, second Churchill :D)

Yeah. The original's easily found, & this appears to be the same car & same other bloke in the other front seat.

Der Führer war ein armes Schwein,

er hatte keinen Führerschein.

(The Führer was a poor pig, he had no driver's license. Obviously Führer translating to not just "leader" but also "guide" and, in oldfashioned officialspeak, "driver", and the colloquial German word for driver's license thus still being Führerschein makes for no shortage of Hitler jokes. Of course modern officialspeak is Fahrerlaubnis, which hardly anybody uses.)

Though the collection of Hitler's table talks contains an occasion where he recalled being shown how to drive by one Adolf Müller while campaigning in the 20s in his usual lengthy way.

The murder of ex-Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in 2006 was "probably" approved by President Vladimir Putin, a public inquiry has concluded.

It means "we failed to find evidence" IMHO.

No new news with a "probable" conclusion means they're just wrapping up an old investigation. New news would be parliament debating the prohibition of Putin or his cronies ever again setting foot on British soil.

I want to play Vladimir Putin: Leonardo Dicaprio Actor Leonardo Dicaprio is interested in portraying Russian President Vladimir Putin on the big screen.

Actor Leonardo Dicaprio is interested in portraying Russian President Vladimir Putin on the big screen.

The “Wolf of Wall Street” star is receiving high praise for his Oscar-nominated role as frontiersman Hugh Glass in “The Revenant”, but the 41 year old is already looking forward to his next role and would consider playing the controversial leader, reported Vulture online.

“Putin would be very, very, very interesting. I would love to play him,” he said.

DiCaprio previously worked with Putin in 2010 and met him during a conference staged to raise awareness about the endangered Siberian tiger.

“My foundation has provided financial support for several projects for the protection of these big cats. Putin and I talked only about the protection of these magnificent animals, not politics.”

If he does not like Leo's interpretation of his character, don't have tea with him.....

In fairness, I think that has been misportrayed a bit. They had to have a debate in parliament because a petition required that they do. But there was no requirement that it be voted on or even acted upon, and there were quite a lot of Conservatives in the room who demanded it go no further. And it didnt.

‘While I think this man is crazy, while I think this man has no valid points to make, I will not be the one to silence his voice,’ said Conservative lawmaker Tom Tugendhat.

And just in case anyone thinks that name is made up. :D

The first Tugendhat moved here from what had been Austria-Hungary sometime after WW1.

Alexander Litvinenko claimed that Vladimir Putin had been caught on camera having sex with young boys, according to the inquiry into the spy's murder.

When the future Russian president was a student, he was filmed abusing children in a flat where another top politician had a threesome with prostitutes, Litvinenko wrote in a sensational web post.

The wild claim is recorded in Sir Robert Owen's inquiry report as part of a long list of allegations made by the assassinated spy against Mr Putin after he fled Russia and settled in Britain.Litvinenko made the accusation after the president was pictured kissing the stomach of a five-year-old boy during a walkabout in the Kremlin in June 2006.

Maybe it is a signal that Lenin is going to be buried soon.

No, in the same discussion this question was addressed and conclusion was sort of “The last thing we need now is disturbing public unity with steps like that”. So – at least not soon http://www.interfax.ru/russia/491444

In Spain we use the expression "weather balloon" in politics. You say something and wait for the public's response. Maybe it is not done now but within a short period. Lenin himself asked to be buried and not exposed anyway.

Actually opinion Putin expressed is very mainstream and moderate by Russian standards, so it is not “weather balloon" but more like demonstration he is against any extremes.
