Edmund Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I just ... criticizing yourself (which is the only way to get better at something unless somebody else teaches you). Are you hinting that there are a lot of stupid people around and that is why there are stupid WOT players? Just hinting? "Stupid" is a bit of a blanket statement there, many of these people would do OK if they have things shown/explained to them. The problem is lack of critical thinking skills. Or even if they can think critically they can't apply that to themselves. That's my real problem with people. Anyone could do stupid things. There is the origin of the Holy Hand Grenade of Tanknet*, for instance . The bad thing is when one could not stop doing stupid things. *Details -possibly- via PM. I would say we all do, maybe everyday. But we must learn and try to improve. I wonder sometimes if we (general we) have lost common sense and independant thought.
sunday Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I edited very much my post, Edmund. but you catched the drift.
Edmund Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I edited very much my post, Edmund. but you catched the drift. Thanks. I tried. I love Monty Python (Not looking up how to spell it).
Mistral Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Just watched a "teammate" deliberately push a stug over a clif. The stug was pushing back but down he went. Now I can not stand that behavior so I put 2 rounds in him and he was gone. He was screaming report report etc. and other witnesses including the stug told him to shut up. Most gratifying kill of the day and I had 2 games with 8 kills today.
Skywalkre Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 I wasn't sure whether to put this in the Battle Reports or here, but since the team blew an easy win this is probably more appropriate. DefeatBattle: Arctic Region Thursday, January 31, 2013 11:18:27 AMVehicle: Type T-34Experience received: 939Credits received: 40,468 (compensation for damage caused by allies: 165)Battle Achievements: SniperYeah, almost 1k xp on a tier 5 in a LOSS. We were the western team. Eleven of my team go southeast to the enemy base. One guy goes north. Enemy has at least 6-7 north. Guess what? The 2-3 of us who came back to base managed to kill off those 6-7. The 11 of us who went southeast LOST against inferior numbers. I had 2.1k damage with an 85 dmg gun. You do the math.
bojan Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 ...I had 2.1k damage with an 85 dmg gun. You do the math. I play KV-1 with 57mm and had a game where I did ~3000 dmg and still team lost...

Paul G. Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Here's a thought, when I manage to flank three enemy tanks engaging two friendlies DONT then sit behind a rock and watch all three foes turn towards me and attack and wait until im dead to reengage!!!
Paul G. Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Had a rough day with my Marder. A friendly B1 shoots me from behind and tracks me, then he proceeds to run into me from behind...for fun apparently. Idiot. Next game I am hiding in bush sniping at enemy when a friendly Hetzer rams me (guess he didnt notice the big green diamond!) not seconds later a friendly M2 medium does the same runs into me full tilt, knocking me off target!!! I type WTF all over the place.
Fritz Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Yeah that's one really annoying feature of the new physics. I have just aimed at somebody and am going to perform a really tricky shot and BUMP some moron pushes me off and by the time I have aimed again the target is gone.
Skywalkre Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Live Oaks. T34. NE team. I start south (good hull down spots for the T34) and I'm leading the way. My team is taking a LONG time to move down there so I kind of wait up. Then Sixth Sense goes off and arty starts raining in on me. Fuck. I've already broken one of my new rules about being the first seen. I'm also taking bounces on the turret. Given my location this means the other team is in that little underpass near the rail bridge. Fuck. I push ahead to that little dip on our side before that underpass. I creep up to try and get a spot (I have NO idea why I haven't spotted anyone yet) on any of the enemy and they swarm me. I'm thinking, bummer, I'll take some damage but my team will help me out. Nope. Morons are spread out in a line all the way back to base. Two idiots moved to the edge of that swamp/lake and aren't even looking the in my direction. I'm overwhelmed. Given the terrain on that part of the map it's real easy to hide yourself in small depressions. The enemy uses this and takes out my moronic teammates one at a time because none of them ever moved up. Back to those idiots by the lake. One is in a Super Pershing. I figured he was afk but right as I'm about to ask everyone to report him he takes damage and then apparently realizes there's enemies to his left. He charges off sort of towards the enemy with his side showing and dies quickly. The next moron by the lake was just sitting in the open near that house on the northern side. At this point I'm informing him he needs to take his head out of his ass and join the game. He's engaging enemies at EXTREME range rather than the ones 100-200 meters off to his side. Finally when he loses about 2/3 of his health he turns around. Does he take cover? Nope. Just sits there and trades shots frontally with a Type 59 (he was in a T20). I inform this moron (Alocin) that that was the worst T20 driving I've ever seen. He didn't like it. Once again we see mouthbreathers defend their shitty play than learn from something. This idiot averages 200 xp/game, has half as many kills as games played, and is sitting at a 47% w/r (how it's that high I have no idea) and thinks he has a clue. Players like him ruin this game...
Skywalkre Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Abbey. T-150. Southern team. I'm in the middle eating up lights and mediums when I see almost the entire enemy team in the west. We have 3 unopposed on the low road rushing to cap. So... I do the only thing I can. I move to intercept their main force. I run into like 7 of them. Kill 3. Our unopposed guys are capping. Guess what they do? THEY FRICKIN' LEAVE THE CAP. Why?! I have no clue. Enemy starts capping. Finally after a few of us yell at these morons in chat they move back on and cap. We had the chance for a 'cheap' win and these mouthbreathers blew it. What's even more sad is a platoon and clan mate of one of 'em came to their defense. Gotta love fake internet bonds being more important than using brain cells.
Max H Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 The mod that ranks players in the end screen by damage is really handy, it's nice to know it wasn't your fault the team lost. Like just now, did the most damage on my team by 600 points or so in my M36 - and it was a T8 game
Fritz Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 (edited) I just lost a T7 game in the M4 where I did 1800dmg and morons had no clue to go to stop cap - I was crippled and no use at that point (7hp left - I was really careful not to bump into anybody). But overall won 3/4 so no big deal. Edited February 1, 2013 by Fritz
EchoFiveMike Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 This thread makes me so happy I deleted this game. Let me know when they mod the game so I can reach through the internet and choke people. That's literally the only method to correct stupid people that has even moderate chance of success. I was carrying something like a 58-59% win average, I just couldn't stand carrying idiots all day long. S/F.....Ken M
Stefan Fredriksson Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I just lost a T7 game in the M4 where I did 1800dmg and morons had no clue to go to stop cap - I was crippled and no use at that point (7hp left - I was really careful not to bump into anybody). But overall won 3/4 so no big deal.In Hellcat I did 2700 dmg, spread among a T34, a VK4502A and a Jagdtiger 8,8. On westfield. I was last man standing on our team around the village. I didn't have time to see how our heavies evaporated. In next fight, on beach-hut-map, 2 x T29 + 1 more heavy (KV-X?) stay in base, "sniping". One of the T29 even has the gall to say that we (the other players) should learn to play. The only small saving grace for that disaster was that no one opposed me when I called them on staying in base. At least the had the small decency to shut up.Yes, battles were severly lost. Sometimes I get the feeling that mm says: "now you have had 3 good games with decent matchups, now I am gonna put you in a I-can-typing tier 8 battle". Are you sure mm does not take any type of skill or result into account?

Harold Jones Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I was in my Type T-34 on the east side of Fjords and me and about half the team went up the hill. I knew it was trouble when half the people who went with me headed for hiding spots but it looked like an M6 and T29 were behind me so I went around the corner. I ran past a t29 but ended up ramming a KV1 and dieing. I had made it far enough to show that there were only those two heavies on the corner. The other 7 tanks behind me then spent four minutes playing peekaboo sniping games with them. The kv and t29 killed 3 of them before the T29 finally rushed the nearly dead enemy t29. During this time the team at the eastern edge of the ridge had been killed off except for a lone black prince. The mass of enemy tanks was lit the entire time but none of the people playing hide and seek on the hill thought to go down and back up the base. With the top of the map clear, the guys on the hill had a nice clear shot to come down through town and flank the still lit up mass of red tanks. Did they? Nope, the T29 decided to play hide and seek with a kv2 across the map while the remaining tanks decided it was time to cap faster and tried to push to the enemy cap. They were halfway there when the 6 red tanks finished capping.

Stefan Fredriksson Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Player "clydec" in his IS, pushes me of the ledge on Dragon Ridge. I lash out (of course).Afterwards, I add him, and send msg "Why did you push me on Dragon Ridge".Answer: "idk. I was fooling around." Skywalkre Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Redshire. T-150. Southern team. I go up the eastern approach. Using cover I reach the river and I'm right below that little pass up there and surprisingly haven't seen anyone. So, I move up. Still no one. I storm around that corner in the NE and expect to see 2-3 enemies waiting to greet me. Nothing! There's about 5 of my team up on that ridge and 1 a bit further south. I let them know it's clear and they should move up. Do they? You know the answer... The guy a little further back tries to meet up with me but is tracked and killed. Again, I let the guys on the hill know they can make it up here and if we group up we can roll them. They... don't... move. Eventually the enemy kills me and I'm furious. I let the mouthbreathers have it. One of them pulled out the old 'I'm alive and have kills, you're dead and have none' bit (revrat is his name... if you see him mock him ceaselessly because he's wasting the good air we all share). I gladly point out my w/r is 10% points higher but if he wants to hang on to this outlier of a game he can. Play like his is why his record is so bad. There was a golden opportunity to turn a mistake of the enemy's and they didn't sieze it. They'll cling to their shitty play and the fact they're alive (the enemy has more alive and is clearly going to win, but apparently that's irrelevant) rather than see reality. I haven't always been a dick in this game. For the longest time I tried to be nice when talking with these folks. It just won't get through to them. They're hopeless. That's why I just focus on ways I can do better. The lesson I learned is one I should have known already: I can't trust my team. I never should've moved up knowing so many players on that southern team love to camp that hill. I should've gone west or messed around in the town area in the middle given the tank I was in. /sigh Edited February 2, 2013 by Skywalkre
Skywalkre Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 I was thinking that in order to find the silver lining out of all this negativity we could start a thread that gives basic WoT tips (such as don't camp/defend the base when your whole team is way forward, don't count on your team to have half a brain cell among them, yadda yadda). We could continually edit the first post so it becomes a master guide to check out and point folks to. Sound like a good idea?
