Rubberanvil Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I played the T-34-85 back before they revised it and I'm really missing the old gun (think it had 175 pen and 300 dmg). This new one they have on it is a bit underwhelming (128 pen? that makes the 88 on the German tanks look impressive). I'm having to use far more gold rounds than I like just to be competitive.T-34-85 and T-43 had iirc the same 100mm gun the T-59 have, at least in far as pen goes.
RETAC21 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 T-34-85 lost the 100mm gun a patch ago or 2.
Rubberanvil Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 T-34-85 lost the 100mm gun a patch ago or 2.Both the T-34-85 and T-43 lost the 100mm some time along with the 107mm gun the SU-85 had.
bojan Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 100mm did 230dmg and was shit choice for a med due the horrible aim time, unless you camped, you needed 5+sec to aim after coming to the stop. Long 85mm was always way to go.
Edmund Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 On the let side, SerB can select a nickname of the player he wishes to "take care of" - on the right side he has following options: - put the player to a noob team- put the player to the bottom of the team- make the player play against pros - make the shells disappear (?)- no penetrations- reduce XP income- reduce credit income- make the player stuck- when playing arty, put the player on city maps- Malinovka forever And on the right side:- damage dealt (reduced by 2, 3, 4....)- chance of fire (50 percent plus...)- chance of player module getting critted (the ticker under it means "crit your gun module first")- chance of player's crewmember dying (the ticker under it means "kill the gunner first") And under it, the ultimate ticker:"Remove player from this list automatically when he pays for premium account" http://ftr-wot.blogs...ost-shells.html Now I just have to get SerB to boost my numbers with this and I might have a chance.

Long 85mm was always way to go.The 100 had alpha and pen which are far more important than acc and aim time. I used it on both the 34-85 and 43 and did fine (61% w/r on the 43 which so many called a bad tank).
jwduquette1 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Just some observations from last nights play time. I was running around in my VK3001(H) with 105mm Derp using HEAT. I Hit the front and sides of an AT-15 six times (not exaggerating here) from somewhat long range by WoT standards. Prolly 400m to 500meters. No penetrations and no damage to the Vehicle from any of the hits. Confirmed this after the game in my detailed stats. Usually these long range hits from HEAT are pretty effective against most in-game vehicles. I think maybe the high arching trajectory is sometimes resulting in hull roof and turret roof hits. Thinner armor on top -- so maybe more like Artillery HE hits than flatter trajectory AP hits. At least that's my current theory. I don't think the AT-15 ever spotted me as he never returned my fire -- or he just didn't think I was worth the effort. Played a number of games last night -- probably 1/3 of them using various versions of the 105mm on the Sherman, KV-1, JgPz IV, Stug-III or VK3001(H) and did not notice HEAT rounds performing any less "amazingly" than usual. The only exception was the uber-resistance of the AT-15. Edited February 13, 2013 by jwduquette1
sunday Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 If you were shooting at extreme range then possibly you were hitting the vertical surfaces on front and sides. The HEAT normalization used to calculate penetration is less forgiving than the one used with AP shot of various kinds. HEAT does wreck havoc against sloped armor designed to counter AP, though.
Max H Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 The only exception was the uber-resistance of the AT-15. Armour is 6" thick even on the flanks, without a nice roof hit 105mm HEAT will struggle even with normal impact
Harold Jones Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I'm almost to the point of just not playing on 3x days. I don't think it actually causes any more stupid people than usual to play but the prospect of 3x damn sure seems to make people play stupid. Also the RNG hates me today, I couldn't hit even full on zoomed in with anything and if I did hit it bounced. In one match I took ten shots with my Centurion 20 pounder, 2 hits no damage, no crits. Naturally we won that one.
Edmund Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Well 3x days work for me because a lot of bad players like me play and I have a shot.
eurico_viegas Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Well 3x days work for me because a lot of bad players like me play and I have a shot. IMO, it's more like the average level of players goes down, so we go from below average players to average/slightly above average, and therefore can make more of a difference in the matches. Or so it seems, at least thats my experience in the EU servers: got back-to-back top guns during the new year 5x event, winning matches almost single-handedly left and right Edited February 14, 2013 by eurico_viegas
Colin Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I have come to the conclusion is on 3x and 5x days, just load up on gold ammo and splurge, the resulting xp is worth it.
cptcav Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Well 3x days work for me because a lot of bad players like me play and I have a shot. I agree. It works for me too.
jwduquette1 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) I love 3X days My problem is I can never figure when these 3X days occur. I decided to play a bit last night and found out by accident that it was a 3x day. I read the events thingies posted on WoT web page routinely; and the WG calender page for WoT; as well as whatever write-ups they have on special deals and such. But i'll be damned if I saw anything about last night being a 3X'er. Does WG announce this stuff somewhere? Edited February 15, 2013 by jwduquette1
Marek Tucan Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) Yes, on the main page, on the facebook... here's the news post re. yesterday's 3x (I assume you're US server):http://worldoftanks....es-day-special/ EDIT: As for what awaits you this weekend, see here:http://208.84.116.223/forums/index.php?showtopic=37261&view=findpost&p=1000287 Edited February 15, 2013 by Tuccy
Paul G. Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 So I sold my M4A3E8 and bought a T-20. Kind of regretting it. While the gun was weak it was rapid fire, and the tank was decently fast. I had a 56% win rate in it (best). T-20 has not grown on me yet.
bojan Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Get 90mm and train, T20 is a death dealing machine. One of my favorites ever.
Marek Tucan Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 T20 was a sign of things to come back when there was T23 at Tier 8... IIRC T23 had 90mm M3 as top gun only, not the long 90mm, but man, what a machine it was... Though I admit I like Pershing more, but T20 once fully upped is highly mobile pest. Enemies often overlook it, and they often pay dearly
Skywalkre Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Just saw this: Arizona and Savannah maps were completely scrappedWould love to know why. From what little we saw they looked promising.
Allan W Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Loving my Churchill I right now. 65% win rate and about 1/3 of the way to a Churchill VII.
Fritz Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I finally broke down and got Mass Effect 3. Now WoT is uninstalled to make space for it on my SSD. The Mass Effect series is my most favourite gaming experince by FAR. I'm going to be spending ALL my entertainment allotment time with ME3 for the foreseeable future. Guess I'll see you guys a couple WoT patches down the line.
Skywalkre Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 You... do know how it ends, right? I was a HUGE ME fanboy at one point. Right as 3 was coming out I was in the process of replaying both 1 and 2 to get the perfect saved game ready for 3. I even broke down and purchased DLC for 2 (I despise DLCs and refuse to buy any for other games). Then I heard about the story and the ending and how they butchered both. Have disownded ME (and uninstalled all of them, I never even played those DLC I purchased) and BioWare ever since (though the latter was in combination with how they botched TOR).
Skywalkre Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) So the results are out for The Art of War contest they had. I placed in two of the five Chinese tanks I played. Guess which two? Yeah, the two I hated the most: the 59-16 and M5A1 Stuart. I was fairly close on the Stuart to getting in the top 3 (finished 6th it looks like). Looks like it will be a while till I get that gold, though. Sitting at 0 currently with lots of tanks ready to be sold but can't since I want to save the equipment on them.
