Colin Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I am actually enjoying the Lend-lease Stuart with the Japanese gun, much better than the 37mm. will likely hang onto it to bring the crew up to 100%
Skywalkre Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Finished the 59-16. Couldn't move out my crew and sell it fast enough. I can't say it enough - it's just stupid game design to throw lights into the middle of a tree that's focused on something else. If I wanted to play a light I'd branch into it. I don't. Don't force me to. The Type T-34 should've branched into the Type 58 which then branched into the tier 10 medium line, the T-34-x line, and the heavy line (wow, was that that hard of an idea to come up with?). The 59-16 could've been the Chinese tier 5 light branching off the Stuart or T-34. Like I said before, why even bother with seperate lines if you're going to do this? It's not just the Chinese tree. The Soviet, French, and German all have the same. I hated it back then and I still do. Stupidity like this makes me want to step away from the game and/or not spend money again when my premium runs out.
Skywalkre Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I really don't understand the sighting system sometimes. I was on Abbey in my 131 and rushed to the top of the main ramp going to the middle. I stopped there, planning on getting off a shot or two on whatever enemy popped up and running away. However, as soon as I stop I'm hit and one-shot by an enemy 268. I saw no one. I was the fastest one on the map. Did the 268 spot me? Looking at the map it seems like that's at the edge of his max view range and I'm pretty sure at that range I wouldn't be an instant light up. After the game I went and looked at every member of their team to see who had damage upon detecting. The only ones who had high enough scores to represent me being one-shot were heavies which had no chance to get to a spot to see me. I'm now left wondering what the hell happened? It's frustrating.
Marek Tucan Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 268 with camo/spotting skills on the crew would be my guess. He spotted you and he hit you, so he won't have the "damaged upon spotting" field from it.
Colin Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I ran into an enemy Chinese medium with my M46, literally ran into him before I saw him, despite having 100% crews, 3 skills and enhanced optics and stopping 20m in front of him for about 6 seconds and then driving into him, whereupon he fired and finally lit up.
sunday Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Chinese mediums could use Type 59 crews. Most people have them by their 3rd secondary skill. Some even 4th, so full camo is something to expect.

But the gun... I had a stationary KV-1 I was shooting at, filled about 85-90% of the ring. Missed 4-5 shots in a row. Wow...

I run the 6 pounder on my M7 and that never happened to me.
Harold Jones Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I used the 6 pounder on the M7 for a while but since it can only take 2 hits I found I could deliver more total damage with the 75.
Colin Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 The dispersion of shots nowadays makes aiming almost pointless. I remember my 6pdr in beta hardly missing at all, now it's all over the place.

Skywalkre Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Does anyone know of a resource that lists repair times for various modules on each tank? I'm curious because these Chinese tanks seem to take a lot longer to make repairs. I understand I've been mostly playing high tiers with crews that have 100% repair before this, but it still feels like it takes an eternity to do repairs (specifically, tracks). Have repair kits on most of my Chinese tanks but it doesn't seem to help all that much.
Stefan Fredriksson Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Kinda funny, once you start to get comfortable with a "bad" tank, it is soon time to jump into next one. 8k xp from T21 now (which I am not looking forward to).One exception that comes to mind is T25/2. Blah tank.
Stefan Fredriksson Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Btw, rammer on tank with autoloader, will it shorten time between shots, or shorten drum reload? Or both?
Fritz Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Btw, rammer on tank with autoloader, will it shorten time between shots, or shorten drum reload? Or both? Pretty sure rammers are not available on autoloader tanks?
eurico_viegas Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 the chinese tier 6 and 7 lights may be the exception, being the only tanks with both a regular gun and a autoloader.
Skywalkre Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Why, why, why do folks still go low road on Abbey? I've had way too many games lately where half the team goes there and by the time they come out the other side the enemy, taking the middle and the west, have already started capping and killed everyone else. Even though the maps in this game are fanciful, high ground and terrain are still key. The low road can't influence anything but itself (and no, that little area where you can come up the middle doesn't count). Meanwhile, the middle can see both bases and part of west and the west can influence the middle. You own those two you win this map, hands down.
RIPper Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) Hmm, on Abbey I quite often go east side (with a heavy) - a good push there can quickly break through on the other side. I find it quite effective. On the other hand I rarely see a decisive push on the west... Of course it shouldn't be half a team - lets say 4-5 tanks max Edited February 7, 2013 by RIPper
Stefan Fredriksson Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 The only time I even consider east road on Abbey now is if I'm in T28 (or prot), and no one else - at all - goes down there.Otherwise, as heavy 99/100 west valley. As light/med/td it depends, but never down east side. Since the map was changed that part is basically useless imo. Fairly good day so far, even brought out the Löwe. Killed an E-50 from 557 meters, but was bushwacked by their M12 who had snuck up the middle road when game was already over. I could only laugh at it since we still won.
Mistral Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Today in the hetzer I had two cases where I had a tank in my sight, whole sight was within the tank frame and the 105mm round went right through the tank and exploded on the other side. First time i was not 100% sure but the second time I am certain. Annoying little bug.
Skywalkre Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Can we never have an arty focused event again, please? I was quite enjoying the 0-1 arty average per game I was getting since the last patch. This 3-4 nonsense that's reminiscent of the olden days has just made the average WoT player even more chickenshit than they normally are. I like to move and stuff in games, not hide behind fake-rocks-you'll-never-see-IRL-because-they-need-them-for-how-broke-arty-is.
Max H Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 - tank horn will most likely not returnhttp://ftr-wot.blogspot.cz/2013/02/1022013.html
Colin Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Hiding behind a rock in my Comet, with an enemy KV-3 on the other side, a JP comes up behind me to advance, I tell him there is a KV-3 around the rock, so he drives forward and exposes his side to him, KV-3 tracks him, forcing me to swing around the KV-3 kill his supporting 3001P and hurt the KV as much as possible, manged to get around the rock again after the KV killed the JP, he comes around the corner and kills me, we still won but had the JP listened we would have both survived. and both the KV and 3001P would have been dead.
Skywalkre Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 - tank horn will most likely not returnhttp://ftr-wot.blogs...02/1022013.html The two things I saw that caught my eye were 1) they're going to nerf the derp M4 and Pz IV and 2) the upcoming medium Soviet premium will be a prototype of the T-44. The former is long overdue and the latter has me both excited and worried. I'm excited that they'll finally be introducing more high tier premium mediums. I'm worried because that blog mentioned this premium T-44 would have an 85mm gun. The 85mm guns in the Soviet tree right now are all far too weak to be used on a tier 8.
