sunday Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Worst WG video I've seen. Really, What are they thinking?
FlyingCanOpener Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Brief Clan Wars trial. All Forge/Burning Legion/-G- teams got through the round robin round last night. We won our table with an 8-0-1 record, only drawing because some dumb scrub was polishing off two tanks and got nuked by arty, halting our attack. I'm an idiot at times.
Max H Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 BTW guys, silentstalker (the guy who translates RU dev Q&A's) has put together a blog to post the stuff he findshttp://ftr-wot.blogspot.cz/
Skywalkre Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) The 59-16 comes across as a lemon purposefully put in what is otherwise an amazing medium line to balance it out (and yes, that was tongue-in-cheek). Your starting gun is the 57mm that we all know from the T-34. The 'top' gun is an autoloader, 5-round drum, that does 115 dmg but only has 85 normal/106 gold penetration... I couldn't even pen a T20 from the front. That's how bad it is. Still, I'll probably stick with it since it has a very quick reload and if I'm lucky enough to see tier 5s and 6s I can put a world of hurt on them as I circle. Edited February 3, 2013 by Skywalkre
FlyingCanOpener Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Burning Legion (Revolt) and Forge (Anvil) are in the semifinals of the No Sleep 'till Brooklyn tournament. Obviously rigged by Wargaming.
Mistral Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Grew tired of M3 Lee, and got T1 Heavy instead.Moves like an M4, barring a few kph, with more armor, but without the derp-option. Kinda hard to move from +90 mm guns to 76. Takes forever to kill anything. But then again, on Sand River (loss unfortunately) I went to the ridge in north-east corner. I held up 3 platooned T21s for the better part of 5 minutes. Killing just one before they got me, but when they bounced, I penned most of my shots. I find its alot of fun fully upgraded, in some games you are really king of the field since you can bounce a lot of shots. And I like tanks with high rof, even though as you say it does take forever to kill something.
Skywalkre Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) It's official: the 59-16 is a POS. Even using all gold (which kills any money-making with it) the top gun bounces and misses all the time. You take a small bump at any reasonable bit of speed and you bust a track. Unfortunate that this 'scout' is thrown into what is otherwise a fun medium line. Edit: Scouts really need to be their own branches in trees or just off-shoots from normal trees that you choose to go into. The style of play is so different it makes as much sense putting a scout in the middle of a medium line as it does putting an arty in the same spot. Something I wish they'd change with the coming revamp, but I highly doubt it. Edited February 3, 2013 by Skywalkre
Marek Tucan Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 You can go purely Medium line (34-1 and -2) or Light Tank line to get to high tier mediums. Fair's fair - and apparently the WZ-131 is worth it.
Skywalkre Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Except the WZ tanks are better mediums than the T-34-x tanks (which are both bad). The former have better guns and mobility and the latter have... well, not much. This isn't the only tree with this issue, too.
Skywalkre Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) If anyone gets the 59-16 ignore both gun upgrades. I've been running several games now with all gold in the top gun and it's missing what should be very easy pens. Extremely unreliable to the point where I'm starting to wonder if the stats shown in-game are incorrect or there's a bug. Edit: Very first game back with the 57mm I get 1.1k xp, 13 hits, and still make money while throwing out a dozen gold rounds. Couldn't have pulled off the win (spotted for our arty and harrassed as they advanced on our base) if I had either of the 'upgrade' guns. Edit 2: Yep... no doubt about it, 57mm is the way to go. Edmund Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp82CVllK9A Turns out pico is a regular feature So I am guessing Ola is gone. Sad. Very busy weekend. Not much time to play. I did spend a ton of credits on equipment. around 5 mil or a little more.
Harold Jones Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I'm guessing Ola is gone from the US WoT channel. Pico is pleasant enough but she has a very annoying (to me) style of speaking.
Colin Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Unlocked the M48 this weekend, sold the M46, but did not buy the M48, not sure if I need another tank I don't use much as I already have the T110. Also bought the SU-8 so back into arty. Trying to limit the number of tanks I have on the grind at any one time. The Black Prince really does far better than I expected.
Harold Jones Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I dumped my type t-34 and am somewhat happier for it.
Colin Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I am actually enjoying the Lend-lease Stuart with the Japanese gun, much better than the 37mm. will likely hang onto it to bring the crew up to 100%
Skywalkre Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Finished the 59-16. Couldn't move out my crew and sell it fast enough. I can't say it enough - it's just stupid game design to throw lights into the middle of a tree that's focused on something else. If I wanted to play a light I'd branch into it. I don't. Don't force me to. The Type T-34 should've branched into the Type 58 which then branched into the tier 10 medium line, the T-34-x line, and the heavy line (wow, was that that hard of an idea to come up with?). The 59-16 could've been the Chinese tier 5 light branching off the Stuart or T-34. Like I said before, why even bother with seperate lines if you're going to do this? It's not just the Chinese tree. The Soviet, French, and German all have the same. I hated it back then and I still do. Stupidity like this makes me want to step away from the game and/or not spend money again when my premium runs out.
Skywalkre Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I really don't understand the sighting system sometimes. I was on Abbey in my 131 and rushed to the top of the main ramp going to the middle. I stopped there, planning on getting off a shot or two on whatever enemy popped up and running away. However, as soon as I stop I'm hit and one-shot by an enemy 268. I saw no one. I was the fastest one on the map. Did the 268 spot me? Looking at the map it seems like that's at the edge of his max view range and I'm pretty sure at that range I wouldn't be an instant light up. After the game I went and looked at every member of their team to see who had damage upon detecting. The only ones who had high enough scores to represent me being one-shot were heavies which had no chance to get to a spot to see me. I'm now left wondering what the hell happened? It's frustrating.
Marek Tucan Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 268 with camo/spotting skills on the crew would be my guess. He spotted you and he hit you, so he won't have the "damaged upon spotting" field from it.
Colin Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I ran into an enemy Chinese medium with my M46, literally ran into him before I saw him, despite having 100% crews, 3 skills and enhanced optics and stopping 20m in front of him for about 6 seconds and then driving into him, whereupon he fired and finally lit up.
sunday Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Chinese mediums could use Type 59 crews. Most people have them by their 3rd secondary skill. Some even 4th, so full camo is something to expect.
eurico_viegas Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Ha! Victory! But the gun... I had a stationary KV-1 I was shooting at, filled about 85-90% of the ring. Missed 4-5 shots in a row. Wow... Are you running the 75 or the 6 pounder? I run the 6 pounder on my M7 and that never happened to me.
Harold Jones Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I used the 6 pounder on the M7 for a while but since it can only take 2 hits I found I could deliver more total damage with the 75.
Colin Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 The dispersion of shots nowadays makes aiming almost pointless. I remember my 6pdr in beta hardly missing at all, now it's all over the place.
