T19 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Welcome to your new sub forum. The old thread is closed and pinned... it was getting a tad big. So enjoy Cheers Andrew
Edmund Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Thank you. Now I can whine about how my tanks are defective and thats why I lose and no one can say you said that in post whatever. Let the whining begin.
Stefan Fredriksson Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Victory!Battle: Mountain Pass den 25 januari 2013 16:52:12Vehicle: M18 HellcatExperience received: 1 702Credits received: 37 911 Sometimes it all just fits. We start from north. After 5 minutes or so our T29 is alone on the west road, facing 5 tanks. I have speeded across the middle-gully and take out 3 of them from behind. T29 finishes of the other two. Now we have T29, me and a S35 against an M6, Wolverine(Jackson?), KV-3 and 1 more.T29 heads towards our base, telling me cover. We finish of one tank on the road back.At base the T29, S35 and me meet.I ask "plan?" because now none of us know where the others are. T29 suggests he attack, and we defend. I suggest S35 stay at base, and I tag along with T29. Ok. So we start down ice-road. Just then M6 shows up at our base, taking out S35, just as I have reached base. We trade shots, and T29 comes to finish him off. Then the Wolverine (or Jackson?) shows up right after, together we finish him off. Now only KV-3 left.We decide to take middle-road with T29 leading.Up from the gully KV-3 pops. The heavies start trading shots, but our T29 does not do much damage. I switch to gold, and finish of the KV-3 with 3 rounds. What is most beautiful is that during this the T29 notices he does not much damage, while I do, so he turns side to KV, letting me use him as shield. Also the KV-3 prioritized wrongly, he didn't seem to know it is me hurting him, so he keeps shooting at the T29. Just one of those games that outweighs 50 crappy games.

Skywalkre Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Given the recent discussion about maps and how bad most are, here's a bit more supporting evidence. http://joi.betra.is/?p=1641 I seem to recall similar numbers, possibly released from WG themselves, released recently which showed a lot of those assault/encounter maps to be horribly balanced so that wasn't surprising. What surprised me in the above blog post was how bad some of the normal maps are. WoT does a lot right. Making maps is not one of them.

What surprised me in the above blog post was how bad some of the normal maps are. WoT does a lot right. Making maps is not one of them. Interesting assessment. Thanks for posting the link. I've sort of had a sense that the win\lose ratio for various maps was somewhat skewed -- depending upon which side of the map you start. But didn’t think the win\lose ratio as a function of which side of the map you start was quite so high for some of these guys. Ouch. One more monkey wrench tossed into some of the player performance metrics. Perhaps an argument for some sort of random map generator. Edited January 25, 2013 by jwduquette1
Paul G. Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Another reason why win rate is a flawed player performance measurement.
Fritz Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Another reason why win rate is a flawed player performance measurement. I disagree. We all play on the same maps.
Stefan Fredriksson Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I agree with Fritz on both accounts: 1. Battle-boasts/reports in replay-section. 2. On public, we all play on the same maps.On certain days, or in certain tiers, some maps get used more, but win or lose is more determined by dice/team, than on which side you start from. In my firm opinion.
Skywalkre Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 NA players - don't forget to buy up plenty of consumables during the current sale. http://worldoftanks.com/news/1966-black-tom-weekend/
Marek Tucan Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Hmm... Maybe this could be a topic for a separate "news" thread, only to deposit such thingies? Will try to start one EDIT: Done. Here. Got to love the EU one, it is almost a if tailored for my taste in tanks Edited January 25, 2013 by Tuccy

Skywalkre Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Does anyone know if there's a tier limit on these events for tanks that are discounted? I went back and looked at a few and it seems they never put anything tier 8+ on sale. Is this accurate? Is this always the case? Also, it seems to be a lot of the same tanks being put on sale. Is there a list somewhere or is it my sample size was just too small?
snotman Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Would anybody like to give a quick synopsis of what went down today with Clan Wars? Seems there was a major meltdown in today's event. Thanks, Scott New info here clears it up for me: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/201623-statistics-on-the-north-america-cw-12613/page__p__3583724#entry3583724 Edited for new informative link Scott Edited January 26, 2013 by snotman
Marek Tucan Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Have to say that despite the penetration of 17pdr is a bit long in the teeth on Tier 7, I kinda like my Black Prince. Yesterday managed to duel a pair of IS without losing too much, then again they were aiming at my angled front or on mantlet... Tried today (during special) to play Crusader with 3in howitzer, but contrary to the Cromwell/3.7" it did not really work.
Max H Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 3" CS is just at too high a tier to be really effective. At tier 2 or 3 it would be good (*cough*tetrarch*cough*) but at anything higher most tanks have that much alpha without the long flight time and for far less credits

Thanks, Scott New info here clears it up for me: http://forum.worldof...24#entry3583724 Edited for new informative link Scott Not sure what their problem was. Forge and Anvil were the first two clans to apply for our landing zones. *shrugs* We lost in the semifinal to SIMP on New York. Not too shabby for our A team who literally had no strategy other than "Go get them!" In the mean time, Europe is still open, and we landed in France between battles packing 15 autoloaders. trolololo

The best I have seen is 8+ plus 2K, parking space, and other crap bundle like the KV-5 last month and the SU 122-44 earlier this month.
