If you wan to see how this game plays, there are loads of Youtube videos on Baloogan channel. He also hosts multiplayer sessions every saturday.

Well worth checking!!

One interesting right here, Soviet task force with Kiev aviation cruiser trying to get back home after spending all anti-ship/anti-surface missiles against Iceland.

For masochists, 1:15 hr video about playing Operation Firestorm (Vietnam War). And it's not THAT complicated, Baloogan is using LOT of manual targeting for max. micromanagement :D

Edit: I personally dislike those stylished icons, they are not in game as standard, but extra mod-pack.

Praised by both hobbyists and defense specialists, Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations has swept the wargaming awards since its release last September, including the Usenet’s Wargame of The Year 2013 and the gold medal for the Grogheads Game of the Year 2013 readers’ award. However, the developers from Warfare Sims are still polishing this diamond.

Today is the culmination of nearly three months of constant refinements. The v1.03 update brings massive speed and stability improvements to an already rock-solid game and provides loads of new content in direct response to player feedback and requests. Brand new features enhance the level of realism of this advanced simulation and plenty of new weapons and platforms have been added to the giant database of the game.

Here’s a selection of the major improvements:

· Soaring game speed with the new no-pulse (aka "Turbo mode") map option.

· Ironclad stability with hundreds of crash/bug/logic-flaw fixes.

· Further realism features like realistic loadout drag & weight effect on fuel consumption ("Christmas tree" loadouts now have a price), enhanced weather effects and refined air-ops AI options.

· Countless database & installation additions - from WW2-era IJN aircraft and hypothetical Cold War units & weapons like the Yak-141, Ulyanovsk CVN, F-23 ATF, A-12 Avenger II, Super Tomcat 21 and "son of Phoenix" AIM-152 AAAM all the way to ultra-modern hardware like the MOP super bunker-buster, Club-K container-launched cruise missile, the UK's Type-26 frigate, Russian Vityaz and Morfey SAMs and Chinese burgeoning air and naval forces.

· Dozens of new community scenarios enhanced by the new features

Well, we'll see, but I think that's very optimistic based on the constant stream of crashes this thing has been generating for me. Up to this point I've been getting several a night with big scenarios, and I don't think they've made a lot of changes from B501 to the 1.03 release.

Yes, that sort of thing can happen now and then. usually it's related to some certain weapon or plane or scenario etc. I'd not say "ironclad stability" either, but I.03 has not crashed on me yet and also previously I was 95% sure to be able to continue from autosave.

They are already making Build 505... :D

Looking to get this game within the month, budget permitting.

Downloading it will pro'ly be a whole day affair thanks to lousy Philippine internet

My new system is gonna be overkill for this game. But I cannot wait to have the whole thing playing on the big screen ala "situation room" command center hahaha!

Meaning no disrespect, but there's no graphics involved in this game right ? No 3D representations ? So its reallly a spreadsheet game to use a phrase used elsewhere here ?

I'm looking for a harpoon replacement and this isnt it yet I suspect.

This is not 3D game, but hardcore modern military air/naval simulation/game.

No disrespect either, but if you have not checked comprehensive links provided in this thread and say something like "spreadsheet game", it's probably not for you. Sorry, but this simulation requires some attention. :D

However...

I suggest you watch few Youtube videos how game plays from http://www.baloogancampaign.com. There are no spreadsheets in game but quite comprehensive database.

a. Yes.

BTW, you can check game units for free here: http://wiki.baloogancampaign.com/index.php/Main_Page

Example: http://wiki.baloogancampaign.com/index.php/DataShip?ID=259

Baloogan usually updates the page regularly, but not with every release. Thus his page might be one or 2 builds (releases) behind game database. Usually, new units are added in every build. That database is by itself worth game price, but as above, also available on Baloogan's page.

b. It's global, so you can make your scenario everywhere you want.

Don't count on sale anytime soon. Game is on full development still (doesn't mean it's not fully ready product, just that it's evolving constantly) and will be for foreseeable future. Developers have released way over 100 builds since game was released and are squashing bugs, adding features and planning expanding.

If I remember correctly, they are going to introduce Time-on-Target air strike planner etc. in future...among other things.
