It seems like you either love black liquorice or you hate it. I personally have always liked it. Though I can not get into that salmiak liquorice that is so popular in northern Europe. It is just too salty.

IT IS RASIST!

Love it, Pontefract cakes especially. Sadly it's something that needs moderation: really bad for the blood pressure, although I find it helps keep my sinuses clear too.

Love it!

But yeah, it has a substance that would be a 100 pt Scrabble word that causes pseudhyperaldosteronism, ie, hypertension with electrolyte disturbances.

Yeah, I love the stuff and since it helps with thirst I started taking it as ride food at one point. Boy what a fucking mistake. After about 2 weeks I felt worse on the bike than ever, including days with hangovers. Must have totally fucked my electrolyte balance and everything. I was pounding back like 100g of the stuff every day.

I have also discovered the Indian form of after dinner mints, mukhwas. Candy coated fennel and anise seeds, which have a liquorice like flavor. Very tasty.

Gulab jamun is alright, kind of too sweet for my tastes. Have not had ladoo yet. Give me some kheer and some pista kulfi and my sweet tooth is set.

I hate it. Reminds me of sambuca.

HUh. Love licorice, HATE sambuca.

Bojane: World of difference between those sweets and the yummy stuff these Western Imperialist itd, itd, itd produce ;)

Damn, I remember those Negro "sweets" and some horrible pentagonal mint "sweets" being the only thing on offer as a kid....both horrid.

Quoted for truth.

Nothing good has ever happened once black sambucca shots come out...

I don't mind licorice in small doses, very rarely. Hated it as a kid.
