Okay, this is getting ridiculous. Apparently the IS will now claim drug pushers firing at police while running from arrest in Danish hippie colonies as theirs.

Jihadists claim Christiania shooter was 'soldier of Isis'

Published: 02 Sep 2016 18:52 GMT+02:00

The Danish man who shot two police during a drug raid in Copenhagen's Christiania district earlier this week was an Islamic State group member, the jihadist-linked Amaq news outlet claimed on Friday.

The 25-year-old, named by local media as Mesa Hodzic, shot two police officers and a civilian on Wednesday, and died Friday of gunshot wounds he sustained during his arrest.
"The perpetrator of the attack that targeted the police in Copenhagen is a soldier of the Islamic State and carried out the operation in response to calls to target the countries of the coalition," Amaq said, citing an unnamed source, referring to an international alliance battling Isis in Syria and Iraq.
Copenhagen Police said Hodzic had links to the radical Islamist group Millatu Ibrahim and that he sympathised with IS, but that there was no evidence that extremism had inspired the shooting.
Police on Friday had no immediate comment to Amaq's claim, but terrorist monitoring organization SITE Intelligence Group expressed doubts about the report from the news outlet, which many terrorism experts say operates as Isis's defacto media arm.
In addition to three counts of attempted murder, Hodzic had faced preliminary charges of possessing a firearm and trafficking 48 kilos of cannabis, 2.7 kilos of skunk -- a powerful type of marijuana -- and over 1,800 joints.
He was described by police as a regular in Christiania, where he reportedly came cycling on Wednesday to collect the day's takings from a stall in the neighbourhood's infamous open air cannabis market, which is controlled by criminal gangs.
The 25-year-old came to Denmark from Bosnia and Herzegovina aged four, and was arrested in 2010 along with his father and brother on suspicion of repeatedly stabbing a man with a kitchen knife, but was later freed, according to Danish news agency Ritzau.
He had also been arrested on suspicion of committing a violent assault with a knife in 2007.
Following Wednesday's shooting, Christiania residents decided to tear down Pusher Street and have asked the public to no longer buy cannabis in the alternative enclave, which was founded by squatting hippies in the 1970s and has a long history of openly selling cannabis.

Yeah, basically this was a known hoodlum peddling cannabis.

It is true that he was a Bosnian-born Muslim and apparently had indeed voiced sympathy for IS, but in this case the highest probability is that he was mainly motivated by wanting to avoid arrest, as he had a number of priors and was about to be caught red-handed selling and with enough MJ in his possession to send him away for a stretch.

They were not enough. Even though the Christian army could not get most of its artillery over the mountains and into place, its steady attack and greater numbers proved impossible to withstand. First, the Saxons and Imperial troops attacked from the Kahlenberg heights; then additional Imperial troops advanced on the Ottoman center. The Ottomans launched a counterattack, but in twenty minutes they had been beaten back. Because of deep ravines and other terrain problems, the Poles had been slow to engage, but when they came in on the Christian right, the battle was decided. At about 4 p.m., the various Christian forces advanced on all sides, Sobieski leading his “winged hussars” in what was a decisive charge against the Ottoman cavalry. By late afternoon, the Turkish lines began to waver. A desperate Kara Mustafa led his personal escort into the fray, hoping to withstand the Christian onslaught, but could do no more than rescue the flag of the Prophet.

“We came, we saw, and God conquered,” wrote Sobieski to Pope Innocent XI, echoing Julius Caesar’s famous remark on the conquest of Pontus, in modern Turkey. The siege was ended.

September 12th. For those of you who think that defeating the siege of Vienna was a Good Thing, raise a glass to Jan Sobieski and those intrepid Poles.

First partition was less than one century later.

looking it up, you are right. But still he could not have known and Poland would have been next sooner or later. Rather sooner with the possessions in what is Ukraine today.

Unfortunate, but his astrologer did not tell him. ;)

David Cameron ultimately responsible for Libya collapse and the rise of Isis, Commons report concludes

The scathing verdict comes just one day after Mr Camerons sudden announcement that he will leave Westminster immediately

The bloody collapse of Libya which triggered a refugee crisis and aided the rise of Isis is blamed today on David Camerons blunders when he intervened to overthrow Colonel Gaddafi.

A damning report by MPs condemns the 2011 military campaign for lacking both accurate intelligence and a coherent strategy for the aftermath of removing the dictator.

The disastrous results were political and economic collapse, tribal warfare, the refugee crisis, widespread human rights abuses and the rise of Islamic State (IS) in North Africa, fuelled by weapons abandoned by the Gaddafi regime.

The Foreign Affairs Select Committee concludes: Through his decision-making in the National Security Council, former prime minister David Cameron was ultimately responsible for the failure to develop a coherent Libya strategy.

The scathing verdict comes just one day after Mr Camerons sudden announcement that he will leave Westminster immediately, breaking an earlier pledge to stay on as a backbencher.

In the report, MPs say:

  • They saw no evidence that the UK Government carried out a proper analysis of the nature of the rebellion in Libya.
  • There was no defined strategic objective which meant a limited intervention to protect civilians drifted into a policy of regime change by military means.
  • There was no attempt to pause military action when Benghazi was secured and seek a deal to protect civilians and reform Libya, with the UK instead focused exclusively on military intervention.
  • Mr Cameron should have used Tony Blairs contacts and influence to try to secure Gaddafis exit and a negotiated solution.
  • Many Libyans had taken part in the Iraq insurgency and fought with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, which meant the rise of militant extremist groups should not have been the preserve of hindsight.
  • There was insufficient action taken to secure weapons abandoned by the Gaddafi regime, which contributed to the turmoil and increased terrorism across the region.
  • Mr Cameron should have been required to issue a formal ministerial direction to intervene, noting the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lord Richards, dissociated himself from that decision in evidence to the inquiry.
  • France led the campaign, noting: UK policy followed decision-taking in France.
Just six months after sending in the RAF and the Navy, in alliance with France - after the regime threatened to attack the rebel-held city of Benghazi - a triumphant Mr Cameron was mobbed by cheering Libyans on a visit with French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

In a similar vein, the IS just claimed a mysterious stabbing in Hamburg two weeks ago wherein the attacker was described as "of southern appearance" (which can typically mean anything from Portuguese to Romanian to Arab to Indian). Notably, the IS claim was for two stabbed, though the girl wasn't. I think they're down to going through a backlog of local media reports for attacks to claim now.

IS claims responsibility for fatal stabbing in Hamburg

Sun Oct 30, 2016 7:59am GMT

BERLIN (Reuters) - A follower of Islamic State was responsible for a stabbing attack on two youths in the German city of Hamburg two weeks ago, the militant group's Amaq news agency said on Sunday.

In the incident, the unknown perpetrator attacked a young couple sitting under a bridge at the Alster river in downtown Hamburg. He stabbed the 16-year-old man repeatedly from behind and kicked his 15-year-old female companion into the river.

The stabbing victim died of his injuries shortly afterwards in hospital while the young woman managed to escape.

"A soldier of the Islamic State stabbed two individuals in Hamburg city on the 16th of this month," Amaq said. "He carried out the operation in response to calls to target the citizens of coalition countries."

A police spokeswoman in Hamburg declined to comment on Islamic State's claim and only referred to an earlier statement the police issued shortly after the attack.

According to that statement, the attacker was of "southern appearance", aged between 23 and 25 years and had a designer stubble.

The background of the act is unknown and the subject of investigation, police said back then.

Experts say it is not clear how close the connection is between groups and individuals proclaiming allegiance to the Islamic State militant group.

The Islamist organisation is increasingly under pressure from regional and international forces in its Middle East heartland of Syria and Iraq.

ISIS dont really rally care who kills their enemy - a dead enemy is a dead enemy

personally I think we have lost this round of the battle - due to our own weakness of will and political correctness.

We have left many of the enemy in and are even comforting them

at the same time our security services are so cowed by PC and fear of legal retribution that they are not doing as well as they could.

the mindset needs to change - we have an enemy who uses all and every means to wind and we pussyfoot around

you cannot make this shit up. nobody would believe the movie plot:

Arrested German spy was a onetime gay porn actor - and a secret Islamist

By Souad Mekhennet and Anthony Faiola

November 30 at 10 : 41 AM

BERLIN Two weeks ago , German intelligence agents noticed an unusual user in a chat room known as a digital hideout for Islamic militants . The man claimed to be one of them and said he was a German spy. He was offering to help Islamists infiltrate his agency s defenses to stage a strike .

Agents lured him into a private chat, and he gave away so many details about the spy agency and his own directives within it to thwart Islamists that they quickly identified him , arresting the 51 - year - old the next day. Only then would the extent of his double life become clear .

The German citizen of Spanish descent confessed to secretly converting to Islam in 2014 . From there , his story took a stranger turn . Officials ran a check on the online alias he assumed in radical chat rooms . The married father of four had used it before as recently as 2011 as his stage name for acting in gay pornographic films .

Authorities on Tuesday said they had arrested him on suspicion of preparing to commit a violent act and for violating state secrecy laws . His arrest was first reported in Germany s Der Spiegel . But two German officials familiar with the case a senior intelligence official and a senior law enforcement official revealed significant details about his double life . They include his role in pornographic films , which could cast a fresh light on the judgment and vetting of the German intelligence agency at a critical time .

News of the case sparked a storm of outrage in Germany, even as critics said it raised serious questions about the country s bureaucratically named domestic spy agency, known as the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV).

As they scramble to contain a proliferation of new threats from the Islamic State terrorist group and lone wolves in Europe, German security officials have been credited with

foiling plots . But they also have stumbled including in the case of Jaber al - Bakr , a Syrian who was arrested last month on suspicion of planning an attack and who managed to kill himself while on a 24 - hour suicide watch in a Leipzig jail cell .

Enter the unfolding case now of a porn actor- turned -Muslim - convert - turned - spy- turned - Islamist turncoat .

It s not only a rather bizarre , but also a quite scary, story that an agency, whose central role it is to engage in counterespionage , hired an Islamist who potentially had access to classified information, who might have even tried to spread Islamist propaganda and to recruit others to let themselves be hired by and possibly launch an attack against the domestic intelligence agency , said Hans-Christian Ströbele, a member of the Parliamentary Control Committee that oversees the work of the German intelligence services .

The agency needs to tell us immediately what exactly happened and how it could happen that somebody like this was hired, he said.

One senior BfV official , who discussed the matter on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media defended the agency , said it was virtually impossible to protect against a breach like this .

How should anyone have known this ? He had acted under different names and identities online, he said. Not his real name . One has to say that we were able to find out about all this very quickly and also actions were taken fast .

Officials were withholding the name of the 51 - year old , as well as the alias he used as a porn actor and in chat rooms. Before he was hired in April , officials insist , he was thoroughly vetted . They said they had interviewed former employers and others who knew him.

Those who have interviewed the suspect say he may have been mentally ill , and perhaps even had multiple personalities , according to the senior intelligence official.

But in hindsight , even officials in German security circles were asking how such a lapse was possible .

With all the information coming out about this individual , the question has to be raised: how he was able to end up in the intelligence service and was able to hide all this from his workplace but also his family, said the senior law enforcement official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the case .

In April 2016 , the man began working for the BfV , charged with monitoring potentially violent Islamists in Germany . The ranks of Salafists an ultraconservative sect of Islam have been rapidly growing . In September , Hans- Georg Maassen , head of the domestic spy agency, estimated that there are at least 9 ,200 in Germany, up from 5 , 500 three years ago .

However , other members of the German intelligence service also charged with watching chat rooms noticed a user who claimed that he was working for the domestic spy service and offering vital information. They began a direct chat with him .

The user offered to facilitate access to the spy agency s headquarters in Cologne so that Islamist militants could commit violent acts against unbelievers . The man, however , provided so much detail about his directives and role at the agency that the spies chatting with him were able to identify and arrest him by the following day.

In custody , the man , officials say , admitted under interrogation that he was a secret convert to Islam and that he had the aim all along to infiltrate the domestic spy agency so he could warn his religious brothers about the agency s investigations.

He told investigators that he had converted in 2014 , after telephone conversations with somebody in Austria who went by the name Mohammed . Investigators asked him if this was Mohammed Mahmoud , an Austrian Egyptian who joined the Islamic State and who previously had run a website where he translated speeches of al - Qaeda leaders . The arrested man refused to confirm a surname .

Officials say there is no evidence yet that the suspect provided harmful details to Islamic militants. But German politicians charged with overseeing the domestic spy agency s work were calling for a review of its vetting procedures .

One can be grateful that this came out , said André Hahn , a member of the agency s parliamentary control committee from the Left Party . But it appears to have been rather a coincidence . It could also have happened that he would have worked there for years .

Stephanie Kirchner contributed to this report .

Point first then laugh, other people's problems, don't borrow trouble

Zero-ize all immigration from durka-durka areas, followed by the requirement that all immigrants(fuck it, all visitors!) to US must test no less than 5% higher than the current US average on the ASVAB and/or pre-1995 SAT prior to admission to US soil. Yes, I know loyalty must be addressed, competent subversives are a problem. Testing administered in an offshore quarantine facility by US mil proctors, with cheating punishable by immediate and permanent expulsion. Immediate deportation and permanent ban for all immigrant non-citizens convicted of crimes, as well as stripping and deporting naturalized citizens for "significant felonies" (violent crimes and defrauding the public, at a minimum)

We've got enough shitheads and defectives here already, we don't more from elsewhere. S/F.....Ken M

Pretty good piece, especially for the Atlantic. I would have preferred they balance Said with Lewis;

https://mosaicmagazine.com/essay/2016/06/the-return-of-bernard-lewis/

“The Return of Islam” began with a full-scale critique of the way Westerners had failed, time and again, to account for Islam as a political factor. From medieval times to the present day, he wrote, the West had shown a “recurring unwillingness to recognize the nature of Islam or even the fact of Islam as an independent, different, and autonomous religious phenomenon.”
