BP Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I try not to eat too many snack chips of any kind, but man, when I gotta have 'em, I gotta have 'em. Would cut off a pinkie finger for a good bag every once in a while. After being with a particularly annoying client the past few weeks, I had a nice, quiet, peaceful lunch at my office desk today. Included in the sammich and drink lunch special was a bag of chips from the rack. So I got Dirty Potato Chips brand salt and vinegar, and let me tell you, the topping machine must have been going a bit heavy thatday, as they were tart beyond belief, but tasty.
T19 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Dirty potato chips? umm love the sound of that. I love Salt and Vinegar.. old school
Colin Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 some of my favorites http://www.kettlebrand.com/our_products/potato_chips/#/our_products/potato_chips/?pid=10
m1a1mg Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Colin, those are good, but they tend to be inconsistent. For those of us SC boys who went to the lowly school in Columbia, there are memories of salt and vinegar fries at the State Fair. Damn those were good.
Colin Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Presidents choice offers a good brand with salt and balsmic vinegar http://www.presidentschoice.ca/LCLOnline/products.jsp?type=details&keywords=salt%2Bvinger&_requestid=26962&next=13&productId=17842
Max H Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I agree, chips aren't complete without salt & vinegar. The nearest chippy does some great thick cut ones some of my favorites http://www.kettlebra...o_chips/?pid=10 I prefer walkers or mccoys - kettle chips don't taste like "proper" salt&vinegar crisps IMO, they're sorta sweet which ruins it Dirty potato chips? umm love the sound of that. I love Salt and Vinegar.. old school
Simon Tan Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 (edited) You get crisps when it sez chips and chips when it sez fries on the left side of the lantic. The local chip out here is Utz, ftom over the border in laurel, DE. Edited June 22, 2012 by Simon Tan

There are quite a few stands for salt and vinegar fries at the Illinois State Fair. I dont know if my taste buds are changing as I get older, but I can not find any malt vinegar that tastes as strong as the stuff I had as a kid.

Mr King Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I would smoke a pipe or a cigar very rarely for about two years there but I have totally stopped now and never smoke cigarets. However I noticed the malt vinegar not tasting as strong before I ever dabbled in smoking pipes and cigars.
John Dudek Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 We've got a small, local potato chip factory nearby and they make the best salt and vinegar chips. As soon as you tear into a bag of Downey's vinegar chips, you know two things. You're going to eat alot of them and you're going to feel your mouth begin puckering-up from the vinegar.
Max H Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Contrary to appearances this is a potato chip and is entirely edible - recipe here. I need to do this sometime
Colin Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 the cheaper brands sometimes seem to have the whole bag of seasoning on one chip and none on the rest.
