I think the video was more about what SMG they felt was tactically better.

Beretta. Cause it has normal, very reliable double column, double feed magazines, unlike Suomi where you either had a drum (heavy, awkward to carry) or unreliable mag.

I would exclude the MP40, because it uses the exact same bolt and contained telescoped spring of the MP38, just in a new cheaper receiver made from stampings and pressed into shape. ...

Receiver was way more complicated to machine than a bolt, requiring some very deep drilling and complicated milling. Bolt, even one on MP-38/40 can be made on the common lathe with any reasonably trained machinist. Sure, simpler bolt would be better, but it was not deal breaking like receiver.

Of course. But still a more complicated SMG than STEN or grease gun or PPS-43 or ...

Heck later in the war GErmany flat out copied the STEN: Gerät Potsdam and MP.3008 (aka Gerät Neumünster)

makes me wonder what German engineers thought of the M3 Grease Gun?

And post war adopted Spanish copy of the PPS-43... (DUX)

makes me wonder what German engineers thought of the M3 Grease Gun?

From everything I have read, it was very good except:

- double column, single feed mags

- .45 ACP is far from the best SMG cartridge

9mm version with a double feed mags would have been probably best western allies SMG.

Bojan do you know of available literature regarding German, Italian, and Japanese tests/usage regarding Allied weapons and tatics? Thank you.

Not all good news on that front in Israel:

Religious Zionists Have Defeated Israel's Female Soldiers

79280391.jpg

Religious Zionist rabbis’ fierce campaign against integrating women into combat units has borne fruit. This week, the army issued amendments to the Joint Service Order, which governs service by women and men in mixed-gender units. The new version leaves no room for doubt: The army has capitulated to the rabbis’ pressure.

The basis for excluding women from many jobs was laid down in the original order, which stated, for instance, that a religious male soldier is entitled to ask to serve in a separate-sex unit or to refrain from engaging in activities together with female soldiers. The fact that religious male soldiers outnumber female soldiers in combat units, combined with the backing they received from their rabbis, resulted in female soldiers being treated as a hazard to modesty whose damage must be reduced by limiting their access to meaningful jobs.

Not only were these original limitations retained in the amended order, but they were made even more severe. Now, religious officers and NCOs are also entitled to refuse to serve in mixed units.

Haaretz is left-wing, but this is still a relevant point of concern, given the often chauvinistic and pushy behavior towards women shown by the Ultra-Orthodox in Israel.

Agree with the Rabbis. Leaving aside an Air Force , women are not physically nor psychologically able to fulfill military obligations on the pointy end of the stick, especially in ground combat. It is an abhorrent femi-nazi lie that men and women are equal in this regard. It also degrades women when liberals push their horse-sh_t agenda on the military and society in this regard.

The glasses look cute but the beret is a massive FAIL. :)

That said, an Ingram could serve as an acceptable PDW with a few affordable modifications.

Actually it is good as is with trigger discipline.

The MAC series of sub-machine guns fires intentionally as fast as it does to get away from the resonance frequency that a human body shows when firing an automatic gun. The other way is to be a lot slower like the grease gun for example, When you get in the range of resonance the gun and body move more wildly around.

There are apparently still some people in the USAF who hold the MAC-10 in fair regard.

On Dec. 13, 2017, members of the U.S. Air Force’s 492nd Special Operations Wing held a meet-and-greet and tour for civilians at Hurlburt Field in Florida. There was even a firepower demonstration and the unit brought out an array of American and foreign firearms, including a well-worn MAC-10 with a sound suppressor. Other unusual weapons on display included a folding stock variant of the ubiquitous Kalashnikov AK assault rifle, an Israeli Galil SAR carbine, and an Austrian Steyr AUG assault rifle.

From the weapons collection for training the special secret airsquirrels. SOP for special forces all over the world to have their own collections.

Ah, Operative Information, my old reserve dwelling.

But good grief, every time I see a current photo with the SEM 52 radio ... that thing was considered an outdated piece of junk 25 years ago when I was a conscript.
