Pretty basic food of many types.

Usually buy the Brownberry healthy stuff at the grocery, but they make a "Country White" that is pretty good for an occasional change. Sitting here now with some rye bread dunking in coffee. When the finances clear up I'll have to visit our local bakery for a treat.

Whole wheat bread. Ever since I discovered whole wheat bread, I stayed away from the white processed sliced bread as much as possible. The texture and taste is so much superior IMO, and healthier too IIRC. Toast a slice, spread butter or dip in balsamic vinegar and olive oil mixture, mmmmmmmmm....

Although a freshly baked hot pan de sal with butter will do, too. :)

Good rye, pumpernickel, sourdough is always nice. My grocery store makes a nice olive bread good with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Everyday bread is something grainy, generally Flax bread is the cheapest of that sort. In fact munching on a roast beef sandwich as I type.

I forgot my moms soda bread. She would make it for when we celebrated St. Patty's day. She said her version was not strictly traditional because it was a little bit sweet and it had currants in it. Very delicious..

So far the world has failed to show me a better bread (though I do admit I'm not the most travelled out there).

Rye/integral/whole grain breads play hell with my stomach so standard white for me. Which is pity as I like some of exotics including Sardaukar's tank roadwheel. :)

Sourdough.......Hunmmmmmmmm

My mother and step father would take us up to Northport, Michigan every year or so as kids. There were three food items we always made sure to get, cherries, fudge, and the amazing sourdough bread. Cant find a good sourdough around here at all.
