Just to set the record straight, it never was 'phoney' - On December 23rd, 2010, photographer Drew Angerer[9] published a blog post titled “Obama and the Lame Duck Congress”[2], which featured a photo of President Obama and former President Clinton making a surprise joint appearance in the White House briefing room to discuss a tax bill compromise (shown left). http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/inappropriate-timing-bill-clinton Edited June 26, 2012 by X-Files

X-Files
Et tu, ABC? Et tu? Jimmy Carter Accuses U.S. of 'Widespread Abuse of Human Rights'By Amy Bingham | ABC News - 22 hrs ago A former U.S. president is accusing the current president of sanctioning the "widespread abuse of human rights" by authorizing drone strikes to kill suspected terrorists.Jimmy Carter, America's 39 th president, denounced the Obama administration for "clearly violating" 10 of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, writing in a New York Times op-ed on Monday that the "United States is abandoning its role as the global champion of human rights.""Instead of making the world safer, America's violation of international human rights abets our enemies and alienates our friends," Carter wrote.***While Carter never mentioned Obama by name, he called out "our government" and "the highest authorities in Washington," and urged "concerned citizens" to "persuade Washington to reverse course and regain moral leadership."http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/06/jimmy-carter-accuses-u-s-of-widespread-abuse-of-human-rights/
Ivanhoe
In the comments section of one of the online articles covering that story, somebody pointed out that a couple of years ago, Jimmy declared unequivocally that critics of Obama were racists. So we have a self-confessed racist running the Carter Center. Which would circuitously explain Jimmy's Hug-A-Thug policy as applied to North Africa. X-Files
...that you all are worrying way too much over highly unlikely scenarios. Civil war was highly unlikely scenario in minds of the most people living round here in '50/60/70s/early '80s. Heh. Stop speaking from experience, you'll just confuse the Current Narrative. LUBBOCK (CBSDFW.COM) - A Texas leader is warning of what he calls a ‘civil war’ and possible invasion of United Nations troops if President Barack Obama is re-elected.Lubbock County Judge Tom Head is convinced that Mr. Obama winning a second term would lead to a revolt by the American people and he’s is pushing a tax increase for the district attorney’s office and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office. Chris Werb
Social Reeducation begins by teaching people not to tweet. It is of course not free and is participant funded. The thing is, members of both sides go in for social reeducation. I spent some time online with a staunch Republican the other night. She made it clear that her aim, and that of basically anyone she considered worthy, was to rid the US of any trace of democracy and turn it into a monotheist theocracy based on a literal interpretation of both Testaments (but mostly the Old one - there wasn't a whole lot of love in her message!). This would be accomplished by 'People of Faith' taking public office and paving the way for public money to be used to indoctrinate children in the 'One True Faith'. This in turn would marginalise and pave the way for the elimination of all other religions. US military might (presumably less women) would then be used to impose the One True Faith on everyone world-wide. I'd like to say this person was an isolated case, but I've run into a lot of this kind of thing in my travels. She was a big fan of the 2nd Amendment too. She literally felt it gave her the right to go round to people's houses and shoot them if they voted in something that didn't fit in with The Plan. I'm not making any of this up and, in my experience, she was by no means an isolated case. Edited August 29, 2012 by Chris Werb

I'm not making any of this up and, in my experience, she was by no means an isolated case. That sounds more like a poor Intel assessment to me. No Christians, or Republicans that I know (my sample set differs from yours, obviously) hold anywhere near that position. That is, however, how many people claim the Conservative Christian and Republican position to be. I have been accused of espousing that very position - without any evidence to support it (I don't). I had a very "Bang Head Against Wall" conversation with a college friend last night. It was downright amazing to me (and infuriating, and any number of additional descriptors) how we could be using the exact same words, and speaking entirely different languages. When a phrase intended to mean "I want to eat a peach" gets interpreted to mean "I want to murder all the children" we have obviously reached a point where meaningful conversation is no longer possible. I would be very curious as to what the actual words said were in your above sample, vs. how they were understood - is it possible that you were having the same kind of breakdown in communication (through no fault of yours) that I was having? Does someone like that exist? Probably, we are a nation of 300M but I think you'd have to really look hard to find one and I seriously doubt that any sane Republican would give them the time of day. Then again, I am always surprised at the amount of support someone like Huckabee seems to get.
Chris Werb
I think people are just more likely to say what's on their mind on the internet where they don't fear any kind of censure or retribution. To be fair, this person was at the extreme end, but I've met quite a few like her (again, to qualify, I socialise a lot!). If I rule out her views as false because they're expressed on the internet, why should I accept the views expressed here? What I find sad about this is that she's all for one Constitutional right because it's potentially an enabler to remove the others. That's the exact opposite of what was intended. Hello Chris, When you say "both sides", I hope you realize what an infinitesimally minute minority that lady is. I know a huge number of VERY religious Americans and I can't think of a single one who wants to turn the country into a Christian Iran. I am not a religious person, but I do recognize that the country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and I have no problem with that. Those principles have the necessary tolerance built in so that anyone can exercise their religion (or lack of there of) freely, as long as they don't break the law. Being agnostic, I do have a problem with my beliefs being imposed on others. I'm not offended by people praying in public or crosses in cemetaries. Simon Tan
Chris....irony and sarcasm may well be pearls in the US but the 'Tweeting' really is a prima facie evidence of a severe lack of considered thought and attention disorders. Retweets are worse. Persons of gravity, and no not just those over 200lbs. should never tweet. You cannot just take away Twitter becuase some jackass will create a facsimile.
