Ivanhoe Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Surprisingly to me, Brown actually increased their Jewish cohort.
Ssnake Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Makes me wonder if there always was a 20%+ rate in 1996, 97, 98, 2000...2014, and never one in 2017, 19, 20, 21 ... or if we're looking at cherry-picked data to form a narrative. Sadly, these days the latter appears more likely.

There is a part of me that is hopeful that this means we might get someone significantly better but I do fear that enough squishes will go to the Democrats that the risk is pretty high that we could hand the House to the Democrats. WHich means the limited things the Republicans could do with the House will be gone. I've learned never to uderestimate the stupidity and lemming-like suicidal impulses of the GOP. . .

Murph Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 McCarthy did it to himself, there was room for compromise with the conservatives, but he told them to bugger off, so now we have this mess. But what could this be about, an Uber Socialist Hate America Lefty (Sandy Cortez) having meeting with Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz?

Ivanhoe Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/time-magazine-dragged-for-claiming-the-act-of-exercising-reinforces-white-supremacy Quote The No. 1 New Year's resolution is to hit the gym and get fit. Now, some Twitter users are absolutely eviscerating Time magazine after an article claimed exercising is racist. The article is centered on a new book, Fit Nation: The Gains and Pains of America’s Exercise Obsession. Time interviews the author, Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, who claims exercise is linked to “reinforcing white supremacy.” The article, titled “The White Supremacist Origins of Exercise, and 6 Other Surprising Facts about the History of U.S. Physical Fitness,” claims the trend of exercising is only geared toward white women. Petrzela says racists thought, “White women should start building up their strength because we need more white babies.” Now, athletes, doctors, and fitness influencers on Twitter are dragging the magazine for attempting to connect exercise with racism, AIDS, and 9/11. One response;

sunday Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 (edited) Ritual children sacrifices are now praised by The Grauniad. Quote That is where the Satanic Temple is hoping to find some leeway. It has insisted that its members do have a religious right to receive abortions, as part of its “Satanic abortion ritual”. The Temple’s “fundamental tenet” that “one’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone” is a position that contradicts people being denied the right to end a pregnancy. During the ritual, the person having the abortion looks at their reflection, before taking deep breaths and reciting two of the seven tenets. Once the abortion is complete, the person must recite the “personal affirmation”: “By my body, my blood, by my will, it is done.” The ritual is conceived to serve an “affirmative function of assuring membership that their decision is their own”, the group says, while also offering a kind of counselling effect. More on that Quote The Satanic abortion ritual To begin the ritual, the woman looks at herself in a mirror right before the abortion procedure, reminding herself of her "personhood and [her] responsibility to [her]rself." She then recites the third tenant of the Satanic Temple, which states: "One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone." When she is ready for the abortion procedure, the woman recites the fifth tenant, which says, "Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs." Once the abortion is complete, the woman recites the "personal affirmation," which is, "By my body, my blood. By my will, it is done." The Temple says the abortion ritual helps one "feel doubts dissipating and your confidence growing as you have just undertaken a decision that affirms your autonomy and free will." Nice to see people still give their due to the most important things, i.e., correct spelling. DB Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 If I'd disagreed with the point you were making, I'd have said as much. The poor spelling is evidence of the quality (lack thereof) of the writing, and thus the journalist.
