Did I not hear that a GOP candidate for NY governor was accosted on stage by some rando who had a shank on him?

And this same rando got released without bail by the NY attorney General?

But of course.  Congressman Lee Zeldin has an (R) following his name.  That brands him as a sub-human Nazi, you don't charge people with crimes for simply hunting down Nazi vermin.

It's New York State.   Most crimes including assault with a deadly weapon* on anyone gets you released without bail that day.  It's a point Mr. Zeldin has been making in his campaign.

Apparently, the suspect has been charged with Assault in the Second Degree and has promised to show up for trial (cross his heart and hope to die, maybe even a pinky swear).

* That's Second Degree Assault in New York State with a mandatory minimum of two years in state prison and a maximum of seven.  First Degree is assault causing or intending to cause serious bodily harm or a few other special circumstances.  It's worth five to twenty-five.

It's been the mindset of NYC 'Tankies' for quite a while; A bazzillion years ago, I watched a show on CSPAN2 where the author was talking about, among other things, John Lindsey's reign as Mayor of NYC. He brought up a staffer's quote about how minorities SHOULD be allowed to commit crimes and get welfare to 'pay them back for all the oppression they suffered'.

The most annoying part of the story of the Zeldin attack was how my 'favorite' morning chat show as I was driving to work, was beating on about the Jan6 "kangaroo court" and never even mentioned this story, while another conservative chat show was quite vocal about the attack and how the attacker got off basically 'scott free'.

FBI finally did a random act of police work and arrested Zeldin's attacker, David Jakubonis, on federal assault charges.

I will assume the Feebies who did that were planning on putting their papers in already...

The DNC Candidate said for her supporters to go to the GOP candidate's events. Sounds like the same standard for Trump by the left.

Given the Zeldin campaign had been making NY's catch and release rules an issue and the bad precedent it sets for attacks on all politiicians I'm less surprised.  Besides, it isn't as if the FBI had to do much work beyond filling out some forms.  Easy cases make good stats.

Eric Berne, the Canadian psychiatrist who invented Transactional Analysis, had a concept he called "the sweatshirt."  Everybody has a sweatshirt where it says one thing on the front and something else on the back.  For example, the 4x divorcee has a shirt that says "all men are slime" on the front, but on the back it'll say "but maybe you're different."

AOC's sweatshirt clearly says "tax the rich," but on the other side it says "just not me."

Not necessarily.

It's more of an external compensation for internal ugliness.
