I don't believe people choose their sexual orientation and I truly pity those who find children attractive. I can't imagine a more hellish thing. BUT... anyone actually touching a child deserves to be shot. We all have urges we can't follow through and it's our responsibility to keep them in check.

Everytime I handle a rape case, it makes me feel dirty and depressed.

 

Most (like 99%) of the rape cases I handle involve minors as the victim. I've got only two I think where the vict is a woman age 18 above.

Reminds me of the time I was at one of those meetings at a conference (I was presenting after it), and the woman (Why are they always women?) with a last name of Garcia-Something or Other proudly told us about her multicultural heritage because back in the 1700s she had a Texian relative who was a White Hispanic (She didn't say the white part though) in her family line. In the ensuing furball with me (You know, my family at least had the temerity to get off the boat in the 20th Century...) over whether Europeans have differing cultures from each other, my point that I have passing knowledge of three foreign languages (German, Dutch, and French) got the reply that I only know languages of White Privilege and Oppression, unlike her and her Taco Bell-level knowledge of Spanish. I looked at her like a calf a new fence and asked her how Spanish wouldn't be considered an oppressive language when by sources she would agree with, Spanish Conquistadors brought the language over with them and killed 90% of the natives when they arrived.* She turned red with rage and called me an intolerant bigot. I figured that that was a sign that I had won that argument.

The book I'm currently reading about unknown wars of N. America spoke to that exact number, that within two generations of Cristo Columbo, an agent of Queen Isabela of Spain, setting foot in the new world, 90% of the native population of North and Central Americas was killed off. Chuck Barber, who also offers boys’ drum corps at Vernon and Faubion schools in Northeast Portland, approached Gutierrez last year to start up a lunch-time drum class for black and Latino boys once a week. This year, it’ll expand to two classes a week, to accommodate new boys as well as those with experience.

At least one parent has a problem with the the class, saying it amounts to “blatant discrimination and equity of women, Asians, whites and Native Americans.”

“This ‘club’ was approved by the administration, and any girls who complained were brushed off and it was not addressed,” the parent wrote anonymously.

Gutierrez denies that any students were turned away from the drum corps, and vehemently rejects any suggestion that it is discrimination to offer a club catering to minority boys.

“When white people do it, it is not a problem, but if it’s for kids of color, then it’s a problem?” says Gutierrez, 40, an El Paso, Texas, native whose parents were Mexican immigrants. “Break it down for me. That’s your white privilege, and your whiteness.”
