I introduced myself to Indian food a couple years ago and it made me regret not trying it sooner. With its really heavy base of various spices Indian food is pretty much the culinary opposite of the food I grew up on. I am on friendly terms with the owners of a Indian restaurant near my home. If I go in for the lunch buffet the husband is always kind enough to point out new additions to the buffet he thinks I might like and suggests various sauces to add to the dishes to make them even better. Since I know very little about Indian food when I stop in for dinner I ask the husband what his favorite dishes are and he has never steered me wrong. I assume their food is pretty good by Indian standards as I always see large groups of Indian American families enjoying a meal there.

My lunch today. chicken makhani with raita sauce sitting on top of cardamom rice, vegetable korma, and bhajias with tamarind sauce.

I've loved Indian food since I wandered into an Indian restaurant in Germany back in the 80s. Thanks to my job I frequently travel to San Jose and because most of my co-workers are Indian I get to a lot of different restaurants plus the odd home cooked Indian meal every trip. A while back I was introduced to Indian style Chinese food, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Chinese_cuisine There are several restaurants that serve it in the bay area but sadly none here in Denver.

That is interesting because on the buffet there is always a dish that reminds me very much of Chinese food and I have always wondered what it was doing on there.

Indo-Chinese food is a Calcutta thing.

The flip side is Sino-Indian food, where they call parathas 'indu fei ping' or Indian Flying Biscuits
