IIRC from a pistol length barrels .30 Carbine does not produce more velocity than 7.62x25 Tokarev, but produces much more muzzle blast and flash.

Makes sense that the .30 carbine round designed to be fired from a 16" barrel would produce lots of flash and not be efficient from a 6" barrel.

I got to shoot a few rounds thru an AMT AutoMag in .30 Carbine a couple of decades ago.

Its a very cool gun. However, the ergos were not good. That deep curve at the top of the backstrap is seriously bothersome.

The Blackhawk would be a much more fun gun to own and operate.

Has anyone ever heard of a weapon called the 'Naguchi Magnum'? It was a weapon cited in a 1960's episode of 'Callan', and im just wondering if any such weapon existed. Supposed to be a Japanese copy of an American handgun.

Fictional it seems.

.30 Carbine did surprisingly well against mild steel;

That tactical Lever Action will be the next on the ban list here. There is a fairly serious rumour they want to ban the 10/22 as well.

A suppressed stapler? What is this world coming to?

My goal is to have two guns for every cartridge I have in inventory. Long way from achieving that, but now that supply lines have recovered from Coofageddon, I've been looking at handguns.

I'd like to have a DA revolver in .22 WMR. I have a Smith in .22LR, but it doesn't float my boat for some reason (still NIB, in fact). Don't really trust an autoloader in a rimfire cartridge.

Unfortunately, the Good Auld Dayz of .22 WMR have seemingly passed. The only in-production options appear to be the Ruger LCRx and some Taurus BS.

The LCRx would be fine as a last-ditch looter-shooter, but it would need a dot sight to be useful for shooting varmints and its a bit light to hold steady.

Lesson learned; I  should have bought an SP101 when they were in production.

For HK P7 fans:  New build custom pistols on original frames

Once I read an article on the introduction of the then-named PSP. I was kinda going to want to put my mittens in one. I think I've only seen one at the Koblenz museum...

I can remember seeing the P7 come out when I was a kid and just thinking THAT is how you shift paradigms. It's been my poster child for handgun innovation ever since.  :)

Kentucky Ballistics strikes again!  ARs loaded then kept for over three months buried in red clay, immersed in ocean salt water, left in a freshwater pond and frozen in ice.  They all fired at least once, with a couple cycling through a whole mag!

Behold, the best pistol chassis system by Gun Jesus.

And on cloud .30 the C96 is smiling down on it: The Kids are doing alright.

I noticed he referenced a P320/M17.  Is there a variant of the chassis that has a cutout for the thumb safety?

Brassfacts and Hop and crew have both done deep dives.

Until now I thought you'd put an actual P320 into the chassis, while this chassis is actually a completely new pistol frame that takes the other bits of a P320: barrel, slide, trigger group...

Posted

The old chassis systems clamped around a pistol frame. These, because of the movable trigger pack that is the serialized component, allow moving to the chassis.

Probably not too long before someone makes larger barrel and slide assemblies with better functionality for Cans.

Moar piston AR!!

In honor of Maxx who I am sure would have had conflicting emotions over a tactical lever gun in 45-70 but would have REALLY wanted one.

In an alternate universe, I'd like to think that Maxx Moved to the US and started a successful and awesome guntube channel alongside Simon. Simon would probably be making retching noises over a Tactical Lever gun.

😭

I met both of them, and agree with your thoughts. Both were quite exceptionally smart individuals that thought by themselves.

I rather guess it would have been a more ironic and sarcastic equivalent of 9-hole reviews.

45/70 is the go to calibre for bear defense up here now, way better than the best 12 ga slugs

Oh no, heresy from Gun Jesus. The whole bloody point was to avoid SBR-ing and you SBR.

The problem is the SBR rules, with arm and cheek braces, have become absurd and contradictory.
