I'd like to see that firing. I'd imagine the muzzle flash would be tremendous.

Same here.  I can just imagine how badly Ian would want to shoot (ride?) that little monster.

130 year sounds old. Until you realize 9mm Luger was accepted into military service 120 years ago. 45 ACP is almost as old and 5.56...

It's allmost as if humans haven't evolved quickly enough, to make cartridges that was designed to be able to kill horses, less leathal.

The 155mm goes back almost 150 years, but I have my doubts about commonality with modern shells. Let alone the charges.

This is the best single account I've read on it. Basically, it's complete cobblers.

Marking a significant breakthrough in India's defence manufacturing capabilities, the Small Arms Factory (SAF) in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has developed a unique metal that meets the stringent GOST (Gosstandart) standards used in Russian weapons like the AK-203 assault rifle. This advancement is a crucial step toward achieving the goal of producing fully indigenous AK-203 rifles, marking a milestone for the country's self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

The SAF, a key production unit under the Ministry of Defence and part of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), played a critical role in this achievement. The factory, along with its metal suppliers, worked tirelessly over six months to develop a metal that would meet the demanding specifications required for the AK-203 rifle, a weapon that has become symbolic of India's efforts to modernize its military with locally produced arms.

Is this really such a significant achievement? Maybe the coating in certain parts is more complicated but not the steel...

This channel is very informative and refreshingly different from other gun channels. His channel is only one month old but it's got over 15 videos already. Very informative if you want to know some PLA history told through the SKS that's a little more balanced than what one expects to hear these days.

I wish I had bought a SKS back in the 1980s when you could get them for $69!

Can't wait until I get a "way back machine" to correct this type of mistake.

Why just one? Why not a whole case?

Back in the 1980's I was at a Woolworth's in Miami FLA. They had a barrel with several M-1 rifles and M-1 Carbines. The carbines were $25, the rifles $50. Maybe five or six of each.

They were very beat up. But would have been well worth it as wall hangers if nothing else. I was in the service at the time so it would have been hard to handle. But still I wish I had bought them.

I remember buying 303 Enfields in the 90s for a few hundred. And thousand round cases of 7.62 nato for a few hundred. The UPS man hated me that year.

Frankly, this is the result of… several of North Korea’s previous leaders, Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung, both being … like actually gun guys. And they were both big fans of Czechoslovakian firearms in particular,” firearms expert Ian McCollum,
