Rather than starting a new thread, news of a 'guided' bullet. See below. My question is, if you can illumiate a target with a laser for the bullet to hit, why not just shoot instead of luminating? If the issue is rangefinding, then use a laser rangefinder and still take the shot at the correct range.

Doug, there are a lot of variables in long range shooting that can make a lot of difference to where your bullet ends up. Range is the easiest to eliminate.

Firearm of note; Taurus apparently leaving no stone unturned--from TheFirearmBlog:

Taurus Raging Bull .454 Casull Review

My hand hurts just looking at that.

I suppose it's more temperate than a .45-70 derringer.

Though this thread brings up a new term for me.......Howda-brow....

My fingers cringed looking at the derringer!

My thought exactly. One shot should solve just about any problem, but if you need two...

With a huge cartridge like that, I'd almost prefer a palm-pistol design, with the barrels held in between the ring finger and the middle finger, recoil going straight back into the palm. Something like that held up against a bear's body whilst being eaten might be a good way to give a final "F-you" to Mother Nature, when taking a lower place than strictly desired on the food chain... Of course, a suicide vest would also work in that circumstance.

Other than that? I really don't see the use for such a pistol, other than to say "Look at this!!" to your buddies on the range.

There're guns here, and plenty of opportunity for notable ridicule--no accident, though, except for perhaps an accident of birth...Darwin candidate for sure.

Jeezeus....I kept hoping he'd AD himself.

Figer off the bang switch asshole and stop sweeping the cameraman/woman!

I kept thinking, "Pleeeze don't let someone be so stupid as to actually be behind the camera!"

It appears, though, that the whole lot are in a race for the first Darwin.

Yep, they're covered by 2A as well...stupid isn't illegal, but sometimes it should be terminal.

Not realy if you listen at 0,35 he says he is going to shoot of some prop guns and even the youtube page says they are blanks so the only thing this video encourages is bad weapons handling.

Well, self inflicted ADs often are. Espcially of their reaction to a failure to fire is to keep yanking on the trigger and then point the gun towards themselves.

Blanks are deadly at point blank range, just ask Jon-Erik Hexum and Brandon Lee.

Point blank is entirely somting other than what you mean...but is commonly used that way.

True, I'm speaking colloquially, not ballistically (scientifically).

If dude points the blank pistol at his belly (non contact and pulls the trigger) he's in for a world of hurt. He does it contact wise he's very likely dead. Nothing like having a bunch of hot gas and burning nitrates injected into a vital body cavity.

EEOOWCH!!! I wouldn't do that with a steel gun! Well, maybe if I were curing a finish, but then very carefully.

I read once where Mas Ayoob suggested blank guns for SD by blind persons, for just the reason you stated. I don't recall that the idea got much traction.

We just had a guy who was firing his new Sub 2000 from keltec, he shot a squib and didn’t noticed, he fired 5 more times and then notice his gun was acting oddly, saw a big crack in the frame, a close examination showed a bulged barrel, a xray of the barrel (picture was posted) shows 5 rds jammed into the barrel. The guy freely admits his f**ked up big time and posted the information and picture as a lesson to others, he is contacting keltec as they might be interested in his “torture test”

I've seen a couple of other photos of sectioned barrels with bullets "stacked" inside...major YIKE!!!
