Gavin-Phillips
Wouldn't that "extra armour" snag on the moving tracks? I can see some model kits being made from this scene Best regards Gavin

Rod
Village of Deera March 4, 2012Good shot of what appears to be an unimproved T-72 without the external fuel tanks although the set-up is there. Nice view of rear-turret. It indeed seems to be a small target compared to Western tanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ5DqWh0MDM&feature=player_embedded
crazyinsane105
Rebels in Homs, Syria taking a page from Libyan rebels:Rebels in Homs, Syria taking a page from Libyan rebels: Whatever the hell that is versus T-55s and T-72s along with a plethora of BMPs and ZSUs....those rebels are definitely not on the upper hand. And the Syrian Air Force hasn't even been utilized yet either.

Jim Warford
More Syrian T-72s...I still think all these pics and the suddenly available video footage are pretty cool. Over the years, pics of Syrian T-72s (any Syrian tanks really), were almost non-existent. This is great... rhino
Why the heck do they still have snorkels attached to the side of the turrets? How many rivers would the syrians have to cross if they decided to invade a nearby country?

Stefan Kotsch
Each Russian tank has its snorkel with itself at any time. With the T-72 it is fastened to the left turret side. Everything like it to be is.

JW Collins
Are these actually T-72As or T-72M1s? I thought the Soviets didn't export to the actual T-72A? Didn't the Syrians have some with K-5 ERA too?
alejandro_
Interesting article on Syrian imports of Russian equipment. Note AT missiles for tanks.
