Based on complete lack of activity, I'd say those vehicles were abandoned or crewed by talking monkeys. I'd also guess from the fairly extreme superelevation, the 1st vid is firing over a wall or something indirectly.

 

As for the "Allah snackbar" non-sense; standing orders in combat zones were that any person saying that within hearing distance got blastitated immediately, as it was prima facie evidence they were about to do something stupid. S/F.....Ken M

I would like to see some sort of statistic whether in earlier times the anti-Soviet Mujahideen or the Israeli-Arab wars' era Arab soldiers also used the "Allahu Akbar" in such an inflationary manner. I got the feeling that with the viral spread of combat videos via the internet, all these guys have begun to copy each other, and now everyone tries to outclass anyone else in the "Allahu Akbar"-rate per minute.

 

However, German soldiers not unoften make fun of how Americans make extensive use of "Fuck yeah", "Holy shit" and "Whoohoo" -kind of noises in their combat videos, and I think that's basically the same thing. Diff' cultures, diff' slogans.

In case of Afghanistan according to Soviet veteran's memories - yes they did.

Remember these guys live by "Insha'Allah" thinking that hitting a target, or not getting hit themselves, is an act of God. So if they manage to actually get something done it is worth thanking Allah for.

 

Let's hope it stays that way and they wont start picking up marksmanship skills (or rational thinking) en masse. Because then we'd be fucked.

I read a very interesting piece of literature that detailed US military operations in Iraq, and during the battle of Najaf some of the M1 Abrams suffered loss of optics due to insurgent snipers shooting them out.

If you're referring to those guys firing rifles at the tanks, it appeared to me they were trying to interfere with a tank-recovery effort.

How bad must be the Syrian Army situation where they cannot defend an air base near the capital? I am surprised Iran did not provide more troops at least for base security.

Oh, And Allah-u-Akhbar to you too. The guy was shouting that almost the same way I did yesterday when I managed to get a finger pinched in a paper punch and had to dismantle the bloody thing myself with the other hand while everyone else ran in circles

They lost Base 46, one of the larger military bases in the country. Seems like Assad's loyal forces are simply gearing up to defend Alawite neighborhoods and just abandoning other places.
