h18w777 Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) Bring back the whitewall tires/rollers Russian tanks roll during a rehearsal of the Victory Day Parade in Alabino, outside Moscow, on April 20, 2011. The parade will take place on the Red Square in Moscow on May 9, 2011 to commemorate the 1945 defeat of Nazi Germany. Edited April 21, 2011 by h18w777
Archie Pellagio Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Kind of re-defines the term 'Hatch Plug' doesn't it?

Marek Tucan Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Does the T-90A's gun lack of the thermal sleeve? Without thermal sleeve With thermal sleeve If you look at the 1st image, the barrel is blurred, but you can see there the "rings" of thermal sleeve IMO.

CV9030FIN Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) Are those Diehl 560 P type track copies seen here replaced standard RMSh type in T-90's or are those just put on for the parade? Who makes those "Diehlski" tracks and what those called? E: 2S19 MSTA's seems to carry those tracks too... Edited April 30, 2011 by CV9030FIN
Archie Pellagio Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Had to stop and think 'who won the war?' for a second there...
Stefan Kotsch Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Are those Diehl 560 P type track copies seen here replaced standard RMSh type in T-90's Why a Diehl copy? Tracks of same type had already the BMP and the T-64. The "rubber soles" are also no invention of Diehl.
IronsightSniper Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Russian equipment always looks better in HD.
Cougar 6 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 T-90A What is that thing to the right of the gun (on the ERA brick)?

Yeah there a lot of rubber pad tracks around but to me those look a lot like Diehl 570's: Side and center connectors instead of pin connectors, twin rubber pads instead of all steel track...AFAIK 570 is a good track that is in use with Leopard 2 family, Leclerc, Challenger 2, M1A1/A2, Ariete II and M60A3. Who makes those "Diehlski" tracks and what those called? E: 2S19 MSTA's seems to carry those tracks too...First of all, the vehicle on the photo is quite obviously not a T-90.Then, the track with rubber pads for T-80 and other vehicles with similar suspension is offered for some years already. It is not the standart issue, but seems to be occasionally used for parades and such. I'm not sure about it's origins, some years ago it was shown at some exibition with a following tagFor me, the track seems to be pretty close to the original T-80 track, as for example here - http://data3.primeportal.net/tanks/yuri_pasholok/t-80u/images/t-80u_059_of_342.jpg As for T-90, the rubber pads could be inserted in a standart track. An example of that setup can be seen (not too clear, but still) here - http://varlamov.me/img/parad_pobedi_rep11/09.jpg T-90A What is that thing to the right of the gun (on the ERA brick)?Rumour has it, that this is a GPS/GLONASS receiver, the singal from which is used by a commander in a leading tank to control the position of tanks in a column. Jacob Ortega Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Rumour has it, that this is a GPS/GLONASS receiver, the singal from which is used by a commander in a leading tank to control the position of tanks in a column. They put the receiver on the ERA block? Is it that expendable?
Sergei_M Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 They put the receiver on the ERA block? Is it that expendable? That exact device is used only for parades.
Djuice Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 That exact device is used only for parades. Oh so they don't get lost around Moscow?
Sardaukar Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Would be bad if they'd get nicked or sold before parade....

Yes, indeed, correctly. It is a T-80, as one sees at the roadwheels. And the T-80 is at least equipped since 1976 with this tracks. Only the rubber shoes are new. CV9030FIN Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Yes, indeed, correctly. It is a T-80, as one sees at the roadwheels. And the T-80 is at least equipped since 1976 with this tracks. Only the rubber shoes are new. And the T-64 had that already something before it: Yes your right...I stand corrected! The new rubber pad made those look more like 570P's in my eyes. The question lies is those T-90A's too equip with T-80 tracks for the parade? 2S19 obviously are as 2S19 is based on T-80, but what about T-72/T-90 series? And are those T-80 type tracks on T-90A's just for the parade or will Russia move to rubber pad tracks too?
Sergei_M Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 The question lies is those T-90A's too equip with T-80 tracks for the parade? T-90A, as I said before, has standart track - the one that most T-90's have, except for those built in early 90's.That track can be fitted with rubber pads, which are "stuck" in the metal pad. Normally, ruber pads are not used.I found a better photo of that track with rubber pads installed (from a last year's parade) - http://i.imgur.com/wUTIx.jpgCompare it to the same track without pads - http://data3.primeportal.net/tanks/yuri_pasholok/t-90/images/t-90_003_of_261.jpg will Russia move to rubber pad tracks too?In a sense "use rubber pads more often" - highly unlikely

m4a1 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Thank you very much for inserting the information. As usual, marvellous parade. However, the air part was more than modest. Was it due to weather constraints? Russians were said to have been able to cope with such issues in the past.
Fritz Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 It was pretty modest last year as well and the weather was perfect.
yak_v Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Thank you very much for inserting the information. As usual, marvellous parade. However, the air part was more than modest. Was it due to weather constraints? Russians were said to have been able to cope with such issues in the past. There were several issues with the several aircraft last year and they decided that having 60+ aircraft in tight formation over a very densely populated city may not have been a good idea. Plus it's very expensive and not a round date (66 years) so the parades on the non-anniversary dates were always smaller. Vladimir
