Is it just me who cynically thinks that military dictatorship is better than islamist democracy? :P

This morning on one of those AM RW extremists radio stations there was some discussion about this. The conclusion reached was that a benign military dictatorship could be more democratic than a nation with an elected head of state. Democratic with a small d in that human and civil rights of minorities are protected to the same degree as the majority, is more fundamental to a democracy than merely having an elected government. When the bulk of your population are animal level savages, democracy is a "Really Bad Idea"

It's where we're headed in this country, with all this "electing a new people" mass immigration. S/F.....Ken M

Hell, he backs a fascist regime here in the US, why should the rest of the world get anything better out of him.

[Hi, NSA. How are things in Utah these days?]

The parallels between Morsi and Obama are obvious and clearly the Dems are the Sisterhood of Progressivism. NSA is feeling embarrassed really because not only have they been caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they were caught lying about it too. Worse, the Sequester is actually forcing the FedGov to budget and prioritize.

E5M - headed? You are the vanguard of the new Afrikastan!

I have seen no signs yet of legitimate attempts to do so. All I've seen are efforts to make those cuts painful to the people.

You fool. You now see the real priority. Ergo, it's working. Not one day of furlough. Not one dime less in paychecks. No WH tours. Seriously Mikel, you have the government you deserve.

I'm thinking we're seeing Algeria Redux. If we're lucky, this one will be a comedy. If not...it could devolve into Syria.

Unlucy for Egyptians. Lucky for the rest of the world, I guess, as the radicals all kill each other, like in Syria.

Just don't stick your dick in either country. Oh wait, the USA is looking to do that in Syria....

I think the AKP people are watchin this very carefully

To a certain extent it's a Darwinian process - the survivors are the fittest radicals. That's not good.

Yeah. Hence my policy (if only it was adopted) when intervening in other countries' civil wars:

1) Allow civil war to fester

2) Once there is a clear winner who does not agree with you, nuke them.

In short you take the policy of Genghis...pax Mongolica.

The first Green Conquerer btw. His reign reduced the Co2 emissions drastically, which allowed forest to re-grow natrually, and cooled the planet--by slaughtering a large portion of the population. ;)

Below are your two MAJOR problems, w/r to power.

Detroit Diesel 6V-53T 300 hp turbocharged diesel.
Allison X-200-4 four-speed automatic transmission.

Detroit's flat out s**k arse. They can't pull for shiite, and any type of incline, under a load = you will be doing a lot of down-shifting. They just don't have the nuts. WTF the .Mil have had a love affair with them, must be the by-product of a bad joke gone horribly wrong.

A Cummins would have been better, a CAT would have been best...but they stopped making truck engines, due to emissions BS. "GALLICTIC IF" the .Mil had one active brain-cell among them, they would have a sit-down with CAT, forego the emissions BS, and get a contract with them to produce C15s and C18s for their vehicles.

//addendum.

MAC also makes a decent engine and transmission, though for best results, Eaton Fuller with a twin-turbo C15/18 ACERT.

Except the Egyptian ones appear to have the 267hp version and the 3spd Allison. But since they weigh 13.5mT combat loaded, they shouldn't be that bad. P/W is like 19.5hp/T.

I believe the .mil liked the DD's because they were two stroke, so made good power for weight. It was a big step up from the 361 Chrysler gas motor. Still needs more gears IMO, but probably not too bad with diesel torque.

7ton LMTV's are C13's. Most of the MRAP's are C7's, except the Navistars IIRC.

The nice thing about the Series 60 DD's is where they put the alternator, it's about a 15minute job swapping one out. The f'ing Cats are stupid, hidden behind AC hoses, fittings and "Stupid Shit" like that.

There should be zero emissions related anything on a .mil vehicle. Fully 25% of the disabled commercial vehicles we deal with are some form of emissions system related, completely superfluous crap. S/F.....Ken M

Things hearing up. Salafists are breaking from coup support. Islamists in Sinai stepping up attacks and rumors that Islamists from Gaza moving in into Sinai to attack Egyptian forces there.

Yup, it was part of the reason for the FMTV build and the end of the M35A2s in service. The last M35s are just now coming out of Gov Liquidation. Not bad for a base truck designed in the late 40s, itself based on WWII era truck mechanicals. Compare a Mack NO and an M35 and there's far more that's common than uncommon.

The simple fact of the matter is that this Federally mandated crap is just that...crap. It's all bullshit that adds costs to the bottom line and doesn't really help anything. The gases coming from the tailpipe of post-07 truck are cleaner than the intake air in many major cities. Not kidding, dead serious. Bu the cost of the new trucks are too high for the smaller "One Truck Chuck" operations to afford and all these NAFTA shitwagons are generally given a pass. The soot belching shitwagons are overwhelmingly "poor unfortunate" 3rd world minorities(Eurotrash as much as SOTB trash) desperately scratching to make a living.....and incidently dragging US society down with them. Soot comes from lack of oxygen for proper combustion....mostly because these cheap fuckers won't replace aircleaners until they damned near stop running. You can't lean out a diesel, but these cheap shylocks just refuse to learn and the police ignore them because they never pay/show up to court so it's not worth the hassle. Plus they get accused of racism. So unless they run over a kid (BTDT-no T-shirt) nothing is ever done. S/F......Ken M
