I'm grinding with that KV. The KV2 turret sucks, the 107mm is OK, but loads slow, and armour is rubbish vs other heavies. I've got an elite Leopard that I use to transfer experience. S/F....Ken M

How do you transfer experience. I have some PzII experience left over that I could need for my PzIIIA. The vanilla version of which is very hopeless in a fight with T-34, KV3 and PzIV long 75.

By Gawd, you're so tempting me... Will probably DL it later this week.

Just to get few facts straight:

1. Controls are easy, right? ;)

2. If I got it right, I can have several tanks at once and before each battle choose which one I want to use (and gain XP with)?

3. Is it possible to single-player say as a training?

If the tank is elite, meaning has been completely researched out, you have the option to transfer vehicle dedicated experience into free experience. Costs 1 GP per 25 exp to do it.

1. yes

2. Yes, you get four slots IIRC and can buy more for 300 GP each

3. no single player, there are training matches, but why bother. The entry level tank games are full of noobs and you might as well get experience for your time.

I have been stuck with the T-46 for a long time now (well, at least for the two last days :D ), and seems to be getting nowhere... With the upgraded engine, turret and 45 mm gun and APCR its pretty decent when going against T-26/Pzkw II etc, but I get annihilated when going against T-34/Pzkw III/IV/various assault guns, not to speak of the KV-series. Well, needs to try harder I guess. My record is killing 3 tanks in one round. And I need to read the instructions, have some problems understanding the researc/buy/GP/experience thing. But tank control and gunning is very intuitive.

From the hours I have spent so far, I se a number of points that need to be altered:

1. The artillery is far to accurate. Some matches are ruined by most tanks being taken out by long range artillery fire. Fewer artillery pieces for each team or less accuracy or less damage could solve the problem.

2. The speed of the BT-2/Leopard needs to come down. They are like racing cars now. Ok, they were fast, but like it is now, Leopard drivers can run into the opposite camp almost when the tanks are deploying, and its damn impossible to hit them when they drive around in circles firing.

3. The bottom right map needs to be altered so only tanks that are in your sightline appears, and not like now, that you can se friends and enemies all over the map.

4. The green/red dot over each vehicle should only appear when you actually have the possibility to spot the vehicles. If they are hidden by bushes or buildings you now can see where they are.

5. Sometimes I have experienced lag. When I slowly drive out of cover and see that all is clear to advance, then when I advance to the next cover 2 or 3 enemy tanks suddenly appears just in front of me blasting away. I know, not easy to do something about.

Other than that, its a blast. Wife Unit MK 1 is getting grumpy, what other proof do one need? :P

I can agree on 4. When you are having one of the weakest tanks in the battle, I tried to surprise the enemy by hiding. So I hid between some buildings facing our flag. Just to be surprised when bigger tanks alway turned directly into the spot I was hiding and nailed me.

The enemy dots only show when someone on your team has spotted them and is in radio contact with the rest of the team. Radio contact range is determined by the radio you mount, and vehicles all act as relay points so as long as there are enough overlaps the sighting will be relayed to the whole team. SPGs and TDs get an inherent camouflage bonus so they are harder to spot, the later tier tanks have longer sight ranges (all turrets are rated for sighting range) so they can see you before you see them. There are several equipment add ons that can modify both sighting range and camouflage. I recommend buying a camouflage net for all your vehicles, it can be moved from vehicle to vehicle as you upgrade and having +25% added to your camo value when stationary can really help out your ambushes. Artillery is annoying as all heck and I take a special joy in hunting them down and killing them, a joy only surpassed by blowing the tracks off a speeding leopard and watching them get toasted by every gun that can be brought to bear.

Well you're driving a light tank, you aren't supposed to fight with mediums and heavies. Your job is scouting and hunting enemy artillery.

Camo nets are da' bomb.

I just whacked five tanks and successfully defended the base at Pagorki with a Pz38h. Surrounded by dead tanks around my bush, I was accused of "camping", by a dead guy using death-cam.

I just love children.

Yes, I did mention that I was alive and he was dead so don't disturb my camp site, please.

I'm not good at camping either, which is fine most of the time but can cause problems when I'm playing my TD. Getting 400 yards in front of the scouts is not a good thing.

I sorta' have to camp, I have a POS Pz38h. So far, I've found that the team with the effective defense wins more often than not. Yes, if it gets down to one or two against six at some place like Karelia with three avenues of approach, you can just get overwhelmed from withering crossfires. While killing off one, two others are lighting you up. If more tanks minded the base, that doesn't happen.

But I love to fire my gun... :( This night I whacked a KV-3 with my tiny little 45 mm, sniping and firing repeatedly at the side of the tank from a forest at distance. ;)

But I have actually done a lot of scouting and calling on artillery lately. Once I used artillery to work my way in to the enemy base, tank hulls burning after me. Very gratifying. With fairly competent artillery guys, it is possible.

I am thinking about going TD now (when I get enough points actually :D ). It seems that the powerful guns and good frontal armour often more than makes up for the lack of rotating turrets.

Yeah and their camo bonus is evil. Hide in a bush and tanks have to pass practically right next to you to notice you.

Tonight I'll get the VK3001(P), which according to everyone really sucks but it's a step on the way to Panther. So...

Well upgraded T-28 is finally some fun, the 85mm gun is nice. Though I still get whacked a lot, I'm finally getting kills against "respectable" tanks. Though my ping and FPS suck - this game is surprisingly HW demanding. I'm still not decided to follow the heavy route - everywhere I'm hearing the KV sucks. So I'm fearing a long grind to get KV-3 or the IS.

With artillery - I love playing artillery (though the Su-5 kind of sucks). But when I'm playing the T-28 more, I also do feel the hate - arty can kill me extremely easy if I don't hide behind a building or a hill. Moving does not help much against decent arty players (I know from arty side ;). I can use arty to earn $ and experience - in one game I had 10 kills which is quite weird. Overall it helps to play arty so then I can defend against it much better.

I do a lot of deep flanking raids so arty usually doesn't see me until I'm blowing it to pieces

Any tips on playing with the Panzer III Ausf A? (is that the right designation? - it's the light, not the medium)

I did get the 5cm gun for it, and that seems to be decent, but still not much use against medium tanks. It's also the first tank I've had with a HE round that seems to do some damage, on paper at least - what's the utility of it? Can it be used to try to disable the tracks on heavier tanks I can't penetrate with AP, or something?

On a different note, artillery and light tanks that circle-strafe need to be fixed, and a large segment of the player population is composed of morons who lose games for the rest of their team because they're timid and afraid to get their tank shot. I've seen situations where all the enemy had left were a couple of SPGs and a light tank, and out of the 5 players still left on our side, not one could find the balls to go after them and try to grab a win - they just hid in the bushes until the time ran out, or better yet, until that light tank snuck up, killed our arty and got into our base - and then they still didn't do anything but fidget around in the shrubbery... Damn.

Thanks to "Phredde" for in-game chat about how to change tanks. Seems I was right about being on evolutionary "dead end" with the Pz38hsumthing-sumthing. I wondered why I didn't see any "tree" for that or couldn't buy any other vehicles. I guess I'll have to go back to a Leichtraktor or MS-1 if I want to do that.

He mentioned that the 38h is a "premium tank". I am getting to like it. I just had first game with six kills. It was me and another guy at the end against five at Murovanka and it looked hopeless. I got the last five just by camping and letting them come on. No one was more surprised than me when we won, thought we were toast (I fired forty rounds in that game!). I've gotten four and five kills twice with this vehicle, and now six. Camo net is very nice to have. I bought the small "quick repair" kit. I really need a faster gun laying drive, but that's expensive. My "loader" needs to get on the stick, too.

With enough free exp, you can buy your way up the tech tree, no need to go back to the LOL tractor or the MS1. Just need to burn the gold to convert it. S/F.....Ken M

I have been happy so far with my 35(T) , although the PZII with the long cannon is deadly against most of the light tanks. I have been grinding to get enough points to equip my PzIIIA with the top end radio, should be there tonight, I can get the top end radio for the PZ 35T & 38T as well. If you buy radios for a tank, can you pull it and put the radio in depot prior to selling the tank and equipping the next tank with it? Radio is compatible with both models.

Glad to be of service, like I said you can spend gold and convert the xp from your 38h to 'free xp' which you can then spend on advancing any tank. Depending on how much you have you can probably buy your way past the MS1 and LOL Traktor.

@Matt

It pisses me off to no end to see guys cowering behind rocks waiting to be picked off by arty rather than actually using their tanks aggressively. You don't have to go banzai charging in every time but at least be willing to take a little damage to achieve your objective.

Posted

That would be me, although if arty is in the game you have just enough time to get 2 shots off (light tank) then you must move (quickly). I prefer to advance to cover, observe or shoot from there and repeat. Generally each map has pinch points and if I can get a concealed flanking position at one of these I will. The key is to also observe the map and once you see that most of their scouts are done in, then it’s time to move forward and destroy the remaining forces. Teams of 3 seems to work well, A hasty charge into SPG’s, heavies, TD’s is a sure bet to die gloriously. I think last night we were on opposing sides.
